GCHQ launches recruitment drive ahead of new Manchester office

Published on: 26 Sep 2018

GCHQ is appealing for specialists in various areas of technology ahead of the opening of its new Manchester office in 2019.

The new Engineering Accelerator programme in the Greater Manchester area was announced earlier this month and GCHQ director Jeremy Fleming has spoke about the potential that it holds.

"Manchester gave me some of the best years of my life as an engineering undergraduate,” he revealed.

“Back then, I saw first-hand how brilliant the technology talent was in the North West. It still is today, and I am really excited about our new Accelerator in Manchester.

“It gives us a chance to tap into that talent and use it to help us with some of our hardest problems.”

Mr Fleming added that the new facility puts Manchester right at the heart of GCHQ’s mission to keep the UK and its digital homeland safe and secure.

Areas that GCHQ are actively recruiting for include machine learning, policy and process automation, visualisation of data engineering, software-defined everything, and modelling the science of analysis.

Roles at the new Manchester office will be advertised in the autumn.
