Kaspersky Lab will support first ever all-woman North Pole expedition

Published on: 23 Feb 2018

The weather may be warming up and becoming less hostile after a series of storms and snowy batterings this winter, but you could understand why Kaspersky Lab still feels pretty chilly.

The cyber security company has just renewed its partnership with renowned polar explorer Felicity Aston MBE, who will lead a team of 11 women to the North Pole this April.

Kaspersky Lab sponsored two of Ms Aston’s previous polar adventures in 2009 and 2011 and will support her latest endeavor: the first ever all-women Euro-Arabian North Pole expedition, Ms Aston said she hoped the expedition, which is expected to last for ten days, will challenge stereotypes and change perceptions.

“I'm delighted that Kaspersky Lab are backing this expedition,” the hardened adventurer commented. “I know their support comes from a genuine desire to challenge the status quo.”

Alex Moiseev, chief business officer at Kaspersky Lab, added: “As a company full of bright female minds who have challenged the status quo to become coders, programmers and cybersecurity researchers, we want to encourage and empower more young women to be brave and do the unexpected – whether that’s reaching the North Pole, or learning to code and becoming a cyber defender.

“These 12 adventurers, with such diverse and unique backgrounds, remind us that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things.”
