New (ISC)² Entry-Level Cybersecurity Certification Opens Opportunities to Candidates Just Starting Out in the Field

Every day, more cyberattacks make headlines. If there’s data, it’s a target — nothing’s off-limits. To protect the technologies we rely on every day and safely connect us across the world, we need more cybersecurity professionals.

The numbers tell the story. The 2021 Cybersecurity Workforce Study reports the cybersecurity workforce needs an influx of 2.7 million professionals to meet global demand. And that urgency shows no signs of slowing. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the information security industry will grow 33% through 2030 — that’s 25% higher than the 7.7% growth rate across all industries.

To help close the workforce gap and bring more professionals into the field, (ISC)² recently launched the entry-level cybersecurity certification. This new credential breaks down traditional barriers to entry, enabling students, incoming professionals and career changers to enter their first cybersecurity role prepared for what’s next.

The entry-level cybersecurity certification demonstrates knowledge in the key foundational concepts in information security. It requires no work experience – just a passion for cybersecurity and the desire to dive into an exciting field that protects the world from cyber threats.

What It Covers

The (ISC)²  entry-level cybersecurity certification exam evaluates expertise across the following five security domains. Learn more in the entry-level exam outline.

1. Security Principles

2. Business Continuity (BC), Disaster Recovery (DR) & Incident Response Concepts

3. Access Controls Concepts

Candidates have two hours to complete the 100-item pilot exam, available in English at Pearson VUE testing centers.

Now for a limited time, you’ll have two opportunities to successfully complete the exam. If you don’t pass the first time, consider it a benchmark to identify the domains that require further study, and take the exam again – at no additional cost. Register now.
