No one is safe from mobile malware attacks, survey finds
If your organisation hasn’t fallen victim to a mobile malware attack yet, then it will only be a matter of time.
That’s because a survey of more than 850 organisations spread over four continents revealed that every single one had experienced a mobile malware attack, with businesses receiving 54 mobile malware attacks on average.
The research published by Check Point Software Technologies also found that 89 per cent of businesses had experienced a man-in-the-middle attack over Wi-Fi, while three-quarters had an average of 35 rooted or jailbroken devices on their network.
Cyber security solutions Check Point warned that threats to mobile users are capable of compromising any device and accessing sensitive data at any time, with threats impacting every type of business from financial services to government to manufacturing.
In response to the research’s findings, it has introduced improvements for SandBlast Mobile, which protects against mobile device, apps and in-network threats and provides the industry’s highest threat catch rate.
Michael Shaulov, head of products mobile and cloud security at Check Point Software, said: “The financial value and frequency of attacks on mobile devices exceeded that for PCs in 2017, which helps explain the findings of the report.
“Mobile devices are essentially the new ‘backdoor’ for cyber-criminals, and we are pleased to provide this improved SandBlast Mobile solution to proactively protect enterprises and individual consumers.”
