Using a wide variety of technical and sector-specific skills, KPMG's Risk Consulting group proactively helps our Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare (IGH) clients deliver improved customer services whilst reducing reputational, operational, financial and other risks. We are experienced in managing diverse issues including fraud, regulatory compliance, risk frameworks and modelling, capital efficiency, corporate governance, dispute resolution, deriving value from contracts and much more.

We believe that cyber security is about helping our clients to harness business opportunities safely and securely. For us, cyber security isn't just a technical issue, it is one which engages the whole business and focusses on a holistic approach to understanding and mitigating the risk.

Our team works closely with KPMG's broader IGH advisory practice to link cyber security to public sector service outcomes, risk management, operational resilience and IT transformation.

The Team
The team is part of the Risk Consulting Practice in KPMG, one of the key areas identified for major investment and growth. Our clients need to deal effectively with technology related risks and derive maximum value from their investment in security systems and technology. Our specialists provide independent, jargon-free advice and advanced technology capabilities to help our clients proactively manage their technology risks and use their data to its full potential.

The Role
The role will be working in the cyber security team as a competent security consultant, responsible for assessing, developing and delivering complex and innovative solutions whilst reducing reputational, operational, financial and other risks for our clients. As a Security Consultant, you will have the opportunity to work across all of the service lines and to deliver on key client projects, including:
- Data privacy
- Identity and access management
- Strategy, transformation and governance
- Certification services
- Advice on the management of technology risk
- Cyber defence services
- Strategy and Security Transformation
- Cyber Maturity Assessment
- Business Resilience
- Records Management

We also work closely with other consulting teams, for example technology risk specialists, digital experts and technology strategists to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice.

The team works in an agile and flexible manner, with plenty of opportunities to develop new skills and gain new knowledge. We are keen to support and develop our people to enable them to be the best they can be.

The Person
A successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Project management of small engagements and end-to-end and support on larger engagements to deliver high quality work in a timely manner to include: Scoping / Financial management / Engagement and risk management / Production and review of deliverables
- Certification and related services
- Coaching and developing team members through sharing of experience and knowledge
- Supporting leadership of the team in the embedment of effective working practices
- Delivering value added services to clients
- Building and managing client relationships across a number of clients
- Actively identifying and progressing business development opportunities, as well as managing sales activities such as proposal development and assisting with client presentations
- Developing internal networks and maintaining relationships with colleagues across other teams within KPMG
- Contributing to practice management, e.g. knowledge sharing, training, proposition development, and knowledge management

Qualifications & Skills
We expect that you will have:
- Must have experience in conducting Cyber Security Maturity Assessments
- Must have IT and Cyber Security Audit experience in ISO27001
- Must have experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
- Proven experience in an information security environment within professional services or an in-house information security function
- Proven ability to identify and assess complex information protection risks and controls
- Understanding of a wide range of information security and IT methodologies, principles, technologies and techniques
- Experience in and an understanding of the Cyber risks faced by clients within specific industries and the impact to their business
- Excellent communication skills and report writing skills
- Ability to develop excellent relationships both internally and with clients
- Capacity to deliver work within tight timescales to a high quality
- Degree level educated, MSc in Information Security, IT or relevant subject (preferred)
- A genuine interest and desire to work in the information security field
- Recognised information security (e.g. CISM / CISSP) qualification, or working towards this qualification (preferred)
