About The Team
The Infrastructure team supports all of the infrastructure services within the business, and is responsible for the day to day operations and project requests for all aspects of the service, including implementing new systems and maintain existing systems.
About The Role
The successful candidate will be joining the Hosting and Environments team with responsibility for resolving infrastructure support issues, maintaining and managing the overall performance and availability of the Hosting and Environments infrastructure and systems. Providing support to users at all levels of the organisation will form a key element of this role
What You Will Be Doing
Principle Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery plans
Install, configure, patch and support SQL Server databases
Implement database maintenance plans
Monitoring, optimizing, troubleshooting and performance tuning
Strong problem management and analysis skills
Design, develop and implement complex database systems
Planning requirements and storage needs to allow for database growth
To review, document & enhance complex stored procedures
Out of hours support on a rota for the infrastructure
Skills and Experience
5+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
Excellent written and verbal communication
Flexible, team player, "get-it-done" personality
Ability to organize and plan work independently
Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
Degree or relevant experience in a busy IT department
MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus
The successful candidate will also have experience with a variety of IT administration & management applications.
