Cyber Security Analyst
This is an excellent opportunity to further develop a career in the rapidly evolving field of Cyber Security, at a unique organisation with great training.
The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.
You’ll support the management of cyber security and ISO 27001 and PCI compliance at the GMC in a range of ways. These will include using your analytical skills to produce management reports against the range of information security technical controls that we have in place. Along with our Cyber Security Manager, you’ll be assessing our potential and existing suppliers to ensure their IT security arrangements meet our needs. You’ll be involved in staff awareness initiatives like our phishing exercises, you’ll also participate in our information security audits and risk assessments.
You’ll also support the development of new systems and processes. We will look to you to identify areas for improvement, and work with colleagues to make changes happen.
We’re looking for someone with a technical IT background with strong analytical skills. Previous experience in a Cyber Security role would be a definite advantage but is not essential, as we can provide the training you need. Ideally you will have worked alongside Information Security and Cyber Security colleagues in previous IT based roles, you’ll have knowledge of security technologies and their application and have worked with internal and external auditors before.
What you must bring to the role is an enthusiasm for learning about this fascinating area, together with a real flair for IT - including advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel for complex data analysis. In everything you do, you should demonstrate a proactive approach and a keen eye for detail. Crucially, you also demonstrate the ability to think in innovative ways and solve problems.
In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package including a 15% employer contribution pension, up to 30 days holiday a year, private medical insurance and more.
Closing date: Midnight 25 November 2018.
