Head of Consulting Services Product Manager - Professional Services: Role summary

We are looking for a number of Professional Services / Consulting Services Heads of Product to join our dynamic and senior team. We are looking for experienced product management professionals, who will take ownership of either
  1. Security Advisory and Technical Services product family;
  2. Data Services product family, or;
  3. Digital Services product family.
This role sits at the heart of the Professional Services / Consulting Product Team for an exciting, extremely topical, fast-moving and growing global business. The primary focus of this role will be develop (with product strategy) and drive forward an ambitious product road map, delivering on the development, launch and pipeline creation for our consulting products and capabilities.
We are looking someone who has significant experience working within the Consulting Services environment, who's comfortable managing and influencing a number of stakeholders, and who can champion our consultancy / professional services products both within the business units and regions, as outwardly to the market.
The role will involve working with the Product strategists and SMEs, Sales and pre-sales teams as well as a number of divisional and central functions such as Marketing & Communications, Market Insights and Analyst Relations, to understand how our products solve problems and what customer trends and issues that we are aiming to solve, and driving these into propositions through our product and capability development lifecycle, as well as launching these to our existing and new customers.
You will play an active and strategic role in our business rhythm, regularly presenting to the Chief Product Officer (global board member) and gaining the approval and credibility required to drive growth of our professional services portfolio. You will work with different business units and functions to coordinate and streamline product and proposition development and launch. You will report on progress of the product family against cost budget and ROI targets.
As a Head of Product, you will have a solid understanding of the product lifecycle (we follow the pragmatic marketing framework), be a capable project manager to see a proposition through from inception to launch and pipeline creation, and manage your budget well, reporting clearly to various stakeholders. Influencing multiple senior stakeholder groups is a critical skill, as is a drive to grow your product family faster than the market growth rate.
The chosen candidate will work closely with a senior team of market-facing consulting product strategists, product marketing and portfolio delivery. The team is committed to exponentially grow this portfolio and works very closely with the sales and delivery teams, and enjoys working in a friendly and collaborative environment, being committed and driven to grow the portfolio. We look forward to meeting you.

What you'll be doing
  • Working closely with the Heads of Portfolio Strategy,  you will create, drive forward and communicate your Consulting / Professional Services product family roadmap, continually prioritising work to enable our strategic goals to come to fruition
  • Working with the head of portfolio and our market insights and analyst relation teams, you will agree consultancy services and associated engineering propositions to take forward for development. You will manage these as projects through the entire product management lifecyle, ensuring we get business case sign off (we adopt a "less is more" approach with reporting - smaller documents with more value-add information). These projects are developed following the Agile development methodology and we are liaising with relevant business stakeholders throughout so that at launch, everyone is facing in the same direction and pipeline can be built quickly and effectively.
  • You will drive relevant SMEs (who often also carry out delivery roles) and technical writers to pull together required IP and accelerators as part of the proposition and product/service development, as well as ensuring the needed collateral is being created (examples could be: Sales deck, Sales Guide, Thought Leadership through various channels, credentials and case studies etc). Your role here is to enable the production of this, removing blockers for experts where need be and accelerating where focus has dropped. We need a capable influencer who understands their key stakeholders have conflicting priorities.
  • Play an active role in being the face of our organisation for the portfolio through contributing to customer engagement channels such as  Customer Advisory Boards, Meeting customers to discuss our products, contributing at events where suitable, customer webinars etc.
  • Engaging closely with Architects, Engineering and Strategy consultants to ensure that we are optimising our approach. Influence Sales and Delivery to take our propositions forward to our current and prospective customers and to implement IP and accelerators, holding them to account on agreed targets for the product family.
  • Producing the relevant materials for Product Board meetings,  Portfolio Steering Boards, Product Business Reviews and Integrated Business Planning, ensuring we smoothly go through yearly business rhythms.
  • Working with our internal consulting and engineering professional practices to define costs and set margin and profitability targets for individual products and capabilities, which we can compare to actuals to continuously improve our profitability
  • Working closely with Analyst Relations, central and field marketing to test propositions in development and ensure launch plans are carried out with most impact and to budget
  • Enable the UK, US, Central Europe and Australian sales and pre-sales teams to sell professional services effectively.  Develop an excellent relationship with pre-sales to gain market intelligence and to impart product knowledge and updates on feature releases.
What we're looking for
Essential:
  • Proven experience in Consultancy / Services (note - this is not IT service delivery) / Professional Services product development is essential.

  • Familiarity with launching professional services to different sectors / market segments
  • Strong senior stakeholder skills, being able to hold your own with divisional sales teams and leadership
  •  We're looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and motivated self-starter who can work to, and ensure others in the business meet, tight deadlines.
  • Ability to operate effectively and gain credibility in an intellectually demanding environment.
