We are looking for a Presales Engineer/Presales Specialist to be part of the Technology and Commercial business unit EMEA Sales team here at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, focusing on our Telecoms Security and Regulatory Compliance offerings. You will be based in the UK but required to travel across the EMEA region to support client engagements on an ad-hoc but planned basis. This team is expanding to support a rapidly growing business, as such there is a great opportunity to help define sector and technology focused solutions as well as working with our Product and Engineering teams to keep our products, services and solutions on the leading edge of the Security market.
The Technical Pre-sales Consultant role will be providing product, business and technical knowledge to the Sales team to help them identify new business opportunities, increase opportunity win rates, maximise profitability and shorten the sales cycle.
 Working as part of the sales team, the pre-sales consultant is critical to understanding customer needs and requirements and using these to shape the right solution that will generate maximum value to both the company and its clients.
Key Responsibilities: • Be able to articulate and apply in a very credible and professional way, the company's technology and product portfolio to our customers business and technical users and demonstrate how it could deliver significant value to their organisation. • Analyse customer requirements, by identifying and highlighting pain points, and determine a best fit solution from the company product portfolio, during the discovery phase. • Accountable for ensuring that all proposed solutions are fit for purpose, are right for the customer, that the company can deliver them to the right quality, to time and to budget and that they deliver the agreed benefits for both the customer and our business. • Help up-skill and develop the sales team to enable them to articulate and apply in a very credible and professional way, the company's technology and product portfolio to our customers business and technical users to allow them to sell our solutions more confidently and independently and identify other potential opportunities. • Use their excellent product, business, technical and relationship skills and knowledge to establish themselves as a trusted technical advisor to our priority customers to help drive further opportunity generation in order to maximise value to the client and the company. • Shape the company's technology roadmap by using their experience working directly with our customers to help identify new capabilities that would increase our competitive advantage in he managed services environment. • Perform technical development for bespoke solutions as part of a design and development frame work to help create new capabilities for the company that can be potentially sold to other customers. • Design solution outline documentation, based on agreed client requirements, and assist with presenting these to the client within sales order phase. • Interface with the implementation / project team, articulating customer requirement, to ensure smooth transition from Sale to Delivery • Help maintain the company demonstration environments to ensure the latest products are available for demonstration to clients. • Invest in personal development to maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all current and upcoming products and releases. Understand how these products fit within the company portfolio and their relevance to clients' current and future business needs to enhance the company value proposition. Also ensure that these emerging products can be sold and deployed with confidence. • Keep up-to-date on technology trends in our customer verticals, paying particular attention to those that fit within the company's sales strategy.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Technical knowledge of in mobile telecoms, fixed telecoms and IP networks desirable
Experience of defining IT solutions for communication service providers
Business understanding of the telecoms market, emerging technologies and trends • A strong achievement orientation • Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of what delivers a profitable business and an absolute passion for delighting customers and putting them at the heart of the business • Extensive experience of working with clients and internal resources/experts to coordinate the design, development and deployment of complex solutions to time and budget • Strong business analytical and consulting skills that with a proven ability of identifying the key needs, requirements and drivers of commercial success • Exceptional relationship building skills with a proven track record of creating effective relationships to deliver significant commercial success.
