The Applied Intelligence division of BAE Systems delivers solutions which protect and enhance the connected world. Everything we do creates a safer future.
We want to solve problems for our customers and by bringing together great minds, we can work together to make the world a safer place.

Software Engineer (Operational Cyber) Role Summary We're looking for people to join our talented set of developers and researchers within BAE Systems' National Security group. This is a fast-paced role with high standards and high expectations; we think it's an exceptionally talented team, but we're biased! And even though we think we're pretty good, we know we always need to improve! So we're looking for developers to help us do more and do it better.

We work across a range of platforms including desktop, mobile and embedded systems and a range of languages including Python, C# and Java. Though we still do enough native coding that our hearts will always belong to C++ (and we mean modern C++; C++ 98 is so nineties). It's also important to us that our developers really understand how computers work, so we like them to have a good helping of OS internals familiarity, reverse engineering and just a dash of software exploitation. You don't need to know all (or indeed any) of that already, but you need to be curious about how things work and willing to learn! This means our developers need to be flexible and keen to continually push themselves to improve.

We don't expect our staff to do this without support though; we work hard to foster a fun, inclusive and supportive working environment. We put a lot of effort into mentoring and training each other and because everyone in our team becomes the expert in something, we expect any new recruits to get involved and do the same. We also recognise that sometimes our skills need an external boost so we invest heavily in sending our people to some of the world's best training courses and conferences.

What does this merry band of highly motivated, highly trained and highly skilled developers do? We solve our customer's hardest problems. And trust us…these are not the kind of problems you'll get at a hedge fund, a Shoreditch start-up or even a Silicon Valley tech behemoth. Our customers and the things they want to do are pretty unique.
So, if you want a challenging, fast-paced role with high standards and high expectations, if you want the feel of small company with the security of a blue chip giant, if you want to work somewhere that invests in your development as much as you do, then send us a CV and come in for a chat. The KitKats are on us.

Security Clearance is required for this vacancy. If you are not currently Security Cleared, you will need to be eligible for this and willing to go through the process. For more guidance on National Security Vetting please click here.
