Job Summary:

Network Engineer L2

Description/Responsibilities:

•Interface directly with Network Operations, NOC Personnel, Sales Engineering, Account Management and Customer's Technical Support Staff in order to resolve issues impacting customer's service. •Respond to events generated by monitoring systems, perform trouble analysis, and perform level two troubleshooting. •Work with Network Operations groups to accomplish customer migrations, network changes, upgrades, and repairs. •Monitor performance of network and Firewall devices to identify potential problems and bottlenecks •Diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN and Firewall problems •Create and maintain up-to-date and accurate detailed network diagrams •Conduct customer follow up to ensure customer support requests have been completed to the customer's satisfaction. •Collaborate with other internal and external groups on projects that help to improve the customer experience through more efficient and effective resolution of customer incidents. •Articulate advanced technical topics (e.g. Dynamic IP routing, Ethernet switching, TCP/IP communications at all levels)

Production Support:
  • Provide 24/7 on-call systems operational support on a rotation basis for the technical environment and associated transit networks.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN problems
  • Cisco switch and router maintenance
  • Create monitors to alert on network exceptions
  • Effectively follow change management guidelines for all the changes made to the production systems

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's/College Degree in Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication) or equivalent; Candidates with Vocational or Short Course Certificate but with relevant experience may also apply.
  • Minimum of 3 years Network Administration experience for routers, switches
  • Advanced level knowledge of core networking technologies and security. Including routing, switching and firewalls.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware installation, upgrade, and maintenance of layer 2/3 and firewall devices
  • Experience and knowledge of network monitoring/management technologies (SNMP, Netflow, syslog, monitoring applications, etc.)
  • BGP, MPLS, DMVPN, IPSEC VPN experience
  • Ability to work in high-pressured but highly structured, customer oriented environment
  • Able to multi-task (work on multiple deliverables at once)
  • Must possess strong customer service attitude and interpersonal skills proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others as well as independently.
  • Able to multitask while effectively responding to critical severity situations Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication
Desired:
• CCNA/CCDA certification
• Hands on experience with Firewalls - Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto or Juniper
• Network Operations Center Experience and Help desk experience
