Programme Manager, Software - Airborne ISR (18 month contract/Fixed Term Contract)

Summary of Role:
The Airborne ISR business is recruiting for an experienced Agile Software Development Programme Manager to lead the definition and delivery of Mission System Strategy and associated products. This is a critical role ensuring alignment of software strategy for various Airborne ISR platforms, which will enable a sustainable and successful product development through the application of programme management rigour, discipline and innovation.


Main Duties:
  • Define the optimal Agile programme management methodology applicable to software development in the Airborne ISR environment, utilising Company and Industry best practice
  • Ensure timely and accurate progress measurement and reporting, with integration of Earned Value Management tools and techniques
  • Implement Agile programme management rigour and discipline and ensure alignment to Company drumbeat and governance
  • Define the strategy for software development to include analyses of outsourcing options, partnering strategies and resource management across the in-house sprint teams
  • Implement robust risk management across the software portfolio to include risk identification and treatment strategies including integration of risk mitigation activities into the appropriate schedule, with demonstrable management of the resultant plans

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:
  • Experience of Agile Software Development Management with application of coherent policy and process across an organisation
  • Previous execution of a software delivery role in an operational environment working to challenging timescales
  • The successful candidate will have previously worked in a fast paced, process driven organisation with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Agile methodology and associated performance management to include integration of Earned Value
  • Ability to communicate articulately and succinctly
  • Knowledge of software development strategies with both sub-contract and outsourcing approaches
  • Clear and demonstrable knowledge of schedule architecture, milestone and deliverable management including success criteria
  • Earned Value Management tools and techniques including selection of the appropriate EV techniques for different project activities
  • Working knowledge of MS Project

Desirable:
  • Qualified to APMP or above (IPMA Level D or above)
  • Degree or equivalent in project management or business management
  • Experience of Aerospace project implementation
  • Previous experience of Enterprise level scheduling tools and techniques
  • Experience in the execution of business improvement projects and application of six sigma
