An exciting opportunity to join Raytheon UK's Airborne Solutions business which brings together its special mission aircraft - Sentinel R1 and Shadow R1 - as well as emerging commercial aviation power products and extended military capabilities.
Sentinel R1, along with Shadow R1, is one of the UK Ministry of Defence's vital airborne surveillance assets. The Sentinel R Mk 1 is the airborne segment of the UK Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) programme and provides long-range imagery intelligence (IMINT), including wide area surveillance of land and maritime, to UK and partner forces.
Summary of Role:
An opportunity has arisen for an individual to train in the field of project controls with a view to becoming a highly skilled project controller / scheduler operating within the Programme Management Team. The successful candidate will be given the training & opportunity to become efficient and competent with Planning and Scheduling Techniques, Earned Value Management, Risk Management and the overall project lifecycle from concept through to delivery. This role provides an excellent career progression opportunity in Project Controls at the Broughton site.
Development Opportunities:
Learn to develop Programme Integrated Master Schedules (IMS') ensuring all contractual deliverables have planned activities and that all events and milestones are logically linked and fully resourced with labour hours, material costs, and subcontract payments.
Learn to manage and update project schedules against a weekly/monthly cycle and provide accurate reporting metrics.
Learn how to provide detailed analysis of a schedule such as deriving critical paths and performing schedule risk analysis.
Learn how to manage contract changes and ensure they are incorporated into schedule baselines accurately ensuring realistic configuration controlled baseline at all times.
Learn how to generate, analyse and report Earned Value Management data.
Support the programmes to develop Programme Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Organisational Breakdown Structures (OBS) and Control Account Structures to enable effective work package management and reporting.
Support Bid and Proposal activities ranging from developing programme schedules to supporting estimating and pricing teams.
Develop a consistent application of approved best practice processes and tools across Raytheon UK.
Become a member of the Association of Project Managers (APM) and train in best practice processes.
Travel to other Raytheon UK Sites (UK, Europe and USA) may be required.
Candidate Requirements:
5 GCSEs including, English and Mathematics at grade C or above.
A-levels (or equivalent) with a minimum of 240 UCAS points.
At least one of these qualifications should be in a numerate subject, e.g. a STEM subject, Business Studies, Economics etc.
Proactive attitude.
Analytical logical thinker with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Organised, disciplined, methodical, hardworking and a team player.
Ability to Multi-task.
A keen interest in technology.
Able to use the MS Word, Excel and Office applications and the ability to learn new applications.
Eligible for SC Level Security Clearance (Raytheon will sponsor as required)
Desirable
Experience of working with Microsoft Office Products.
Experience of working in a projects (IPT) or engineering based environment.
Experience of working in an office environment.
Experience with working with MS Project or other planning tools.
