Summary of Role

Raytheon UK is looking for a dynamic and high performing leader for the role of Programme Manager reporting directly to the Business Sector Lead for Power & Training Solutions.
Vehicle Systems encompasses the development, manufacture and supply of power products for military vehicles into the UK and International markets.

This role requires engagement with senior company leadership, customers and suppliers. The role will be responsible for the negotiation of programme, commercial and technical requirements in order to achieve flawless execution of programmes, as well as driving growth through identification, capture and execution of new business opportunities

This is a complex and challenging role that will be highly rewarding and high profile, with extensive communication and interfacing with potential customers, customers, design authorities, internal stakeholders, other Raytheon companies and industry stakeholders.
The role requires excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of energy and stamina. The work location will be based out of our Iona House / Glenrothes site with visits to other Raytheon UK and customer sites which may require international travel.

Main Duties

The Programme Manager for Vehicle Systems is required to:
  • Provide effective leadership to manage and have P&L accountability for a portfolio of complex international programmes to achieve or exceed schedule, cost, and profit
  • Ensure that effective programme management in accordance with Raytheon UK process is applied and maintained in the execution and delivery of programme requirements
  • Achieve business growth (organic & new) through identification, capture and execution of new business opportunities
  • Play a lead role in the capture and bidding for multi Vehicle Systems programmes
  • Execute and deliver product/technology development as part of PV and SEED investments
  • Ensure that programme goals, objectives and strategy are clearly communicated to the Vehicle Systems team and that the programme teams are motivated to perform and deliver requirements
  • Act as the primary interface developing strong relationships with customers and key suppliers to ensure that they are meeting their commitments to all programmes
  • Manage the programme team to identify business and project risks and opportunities and to quantify and produce mitigation, capture and contingency plans
  • Work with functional managers to ensure that appropriate resources are available and allocated to support the Vehicle Systems programmes
  • Approving programme and project plans and preparing/reviewing and approving all EACs taking into account programme scope, achievement to date, ETC, EV metrics and all key risk and opportunities
  • Ensuring regular and effective reporting on the status of captures, investment and execution to the Business Sector Lead for Power and Training Solutions
  • Provide input to the AOP and 5 Year planning cycles
It is important that the successful candidate can demonstrate strong communication skills in order to ensure that any issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will be required to manage a cross functional team in order to address all risks and issues; and must be proactive in building strong communication lines across the business.

Education and Experience

Essential

Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Business
  • Proven track record of delivering a portfolio of complex UK and International programmes
  • Proven track record in capture management and in growing new business
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary development and production teams
  • Proactive team builder who can motivate and lead by example
  • Innovative and creative problem solver
  • Detailed understanding of risk and opportunity management
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Bid and Proposal management, winning new, repeat or follow on business through leading and supplying winning proposals
  • Current holder of or eligibility to obtain SC level MoD security clearance
Desirable
  • Experience of UK and/or International Army defence system requirements
  • A successful track record in setting up and executing full lifecycle development programmes
  • Relevant professional qualification or membership, such as APM
