We are looking for an Infrastructure Architect to lead the infrastructure and network design for a major project for one of our international government clients which will involve coordinating between teams in the UK, Poland and the Middle East. The role will require a significant travel commitment with 40-50% of the first two years spent on Short Term Assignments (up to 3 months at a time) in the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities
    Lead and Manage a small Team of Infrastructure Architects and Engineers, most in an international location Ownership of the technical design and project lifecycle for a major infrastructure build Required to oversee final design documentation/build guide are completed by junior staff Assessing business requirements and presenting technical re commendations that are in line with both the customer's strategic architecture roadmap and industry best practice. You will be required to co-ordinate the activities of others, including 3 rd party suppliers, and will be expected to manage the client's expectations and requirements. Ensuring business and application requirements can be supported by the proposed solution. Providing a relevant business case for changes to the existing technical Infrastructure. Production of detailed technical designs that document all proposed additions and/or changes to the existing technical architecture. Providing input to design and implementation plans, and governance to solution delivery teams. Serving as a subject matter expert for specific areas of technical infrastructure (e.g. Virtualisation or Network). Balancing innovation with standard approaches to meet the unique needs of this project/client. Specification and design of the governance systems for system monitoring, management and operational support tooling

Mandatory Skills & Experience
The individual would be expected to cover all of the following capabilities:
    Requirements analysis and definition. Infrastructure and/or network solution design, including identifying, documenting and assessing technical options. Specification of system components; sizing and costing solution down to BOM level Working with third party suppliers to design and implement the build

In addition, a strong background in several of the following technical areas at multiple levels (architectural, design, implementation):
    Secure Systems design Server OS (Windows Server and Linux) Windows services (Active Directory / Domain Trusts, NTP) Virtualisation/Storage (VMWare 6.x, Dell servers) Network/DMZ design (Cisco) Backup/Recovery (Veeam) SIEM tooling (IBM QRadar) High Availability/Business Continuity (Data Replication, Clustering, Load balancing, failover) Systems management and operational support tools (AV, Performance monitoring, Nagios, Tick stack, Solar Winds) DevOps methodologies and tools (Ansible) Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
