The Information Assurance Manager is a specialized role that will help the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to continue in its support of a wide range of corporate and operational functions through application of security measures as prescribed in our security policy and by UK Government. 

Your main purpose will be to provide assurance and advice on the practical implementation of information, physical and personnel security controls, both internal and external to the organization. We will be looking to you to foster and continue the development of a culture which values and protects all information that is stored and/or processed on behalf of Government and the public. 

Role Responsibilities 

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include: 

- taking responsibility to establish, apply, monitor and review the Information Security Management System (ISMS) and seek improvement to ensure documentation is fit for purpose, maintained and aligned to organisational goals; 

- taking responsibility to identify, assess and recommend mitigation activity for IA risks that impact the MCA; 

- determining whether users have cyber and information handling awareness; 

- developing and maintaining a program of internal audit to support conditions of ISO 27001 certification; 

- developing and managing a plan of supplier compliance activity; 

- supporting the Head of IA in responsibilities to the Accounting Officer and Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for matters concerning the Agency's IA risk profile; 

- managing the investigation(s) of reported and/or perceived security weaknesses and events, ensuring evidence is gathered, examined and understood; 

- managing the Cabinet Office annual Departmental Security Health Check which details MCA cyber security status; 

- leading on liaisons with Coastal colleagues regarding Local Resilience Forums; 

- providing support when required in relation to requests of cyber security assurance; 

- taking responsibility for contributing to the secure delivery of services and systems for the MCA;

We require a Security Check and any potential applicant will have 5 years continuous UK residency in place at the point of application.

We are looking for you to have a familiarity with the application of ISO27001 and surrounding compliance activity. With the ability to identify, assess and then recommend risk reduction activity among a variety of partners. We need you to use your knowledge of data security and help in the support of other areas of governance activity.
