The Applied Intelligence division of BAE Systems delivers solutions which protect and enhance the connected world. Everything we do creates a safer future.
We want to solve problems for our customers and by bringing together great minds, we can work together to make the world a safer place.

Are you a passionate Scrum Master and an Agile aficionado?  Does the prospect of working with a talented development team to help them perform at an even higher level excite you?  Are you a people-centric person, a servant leader who is prepared to go the extra mile if it enables the team to deliver?  If yes, please read on…
As a Scrum Master in BAE Systems, you'll be working to promote Agile/Scrum values and principles, promoting continuous improvement in our teams building exciting new capabilities for our large client base.  You will uphold the Scrum approach and be responsible for ensuring the team engages with its processes and ceremonies including facilitating sprint planning, demos and retrospectives.  Whereas the Product Owner is responsible for Product Success, the Scrum Master is responsible for Process Success.  You will be happy being agile doing Agile - enforcing what is important and being flexible on what is not.
Maintaining our vibrant technical community is important to us, which allows our delivery community to keep abreast of new ideas and technologies.  By definition the community is built from its members and as an experienced Scrum Master, we are sure you will have a few war stories, ideas, and topics of interest to contribute.
As a Scrum Master in BAE Systems, you will be a valued member of our Engineering Practice, working alongside likeminded Scrum Masters and Delivery Leads.  To further spread the adoption and understanding of Scrum and Agile, you will help the practice evangelise the benefits of an Agile approach by helping out with talks, training and knowledge sharing on the topic. In return, the practice will support you in your career development, whether this is becoming an Agile Coach, Product Owner or any another aspirational role within our business.

About you
As an experienced Scrum Master, you will have experienced the importance of the following:
  • A servant Leader - able to garner respect from your team and be willing to get your hands dirty to get the job done;
  • Communicative and social - able to communicate well with teams and enable close cooperation across all roles and functions;
  • Facilitative - able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to a team;
  • Assertive - able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, the voice of reason and authority, making the tough calls where needed;
  • Seeking Continual improvement - continually growing ones craft,  learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself and a team;
  • Acting upon conflict resolution - able to facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches;
  • Promoting team empowerment - encourages & demands self-organisation from the development team;
  • Promoting team transparency - bringing about transparency to grow business trust;
  • Enthusiastic - a high-energy person, passionate about the role of Scrum Master

It would be highly desirable if you had experience of the Atlassian product set (Jira/Confluence), but if not we'll help you learn that.  You are likely to have attended some Scrum Master training; you may even have one or more certifications.  However if you don't, don't worry; it is your experience that counts with us.
About our team
You'll be part of a big company, but we try to create a culture that feels more like a small one.  The work will stretch you and be challenging, but we encourage a healthy work-life balance and welcome a discussion on flexible working.  Most of all, we know teams who work well together also perform well.  We'll do everything we can to ensure you have fun at work, and in social activities outside of it.
You'll be working on a diverse range of projects, delivering products and services for commercial and/or government clients. From small innovative proofs of concepts to large and complex scaled Agile deliveries, you'll be at the heart of software engineering for BAE Applied Intelligence.
Security Clearance is required for this vacancy. If you are not currently Security Cleared, you will need to be eligible for this and willing to go through the process. For more guidance on National Security Vetting please click here.
