This is a key role at the heart of the global marketing and communications function, taking the lead on developing, executing and reporting on integrated marketing and comms campaigns for the Government Business Unit. The role will cover all four distinct account teams, Defence, National Security, Central Government and International and will require close collaboration with the wider comms and marketing function, the Government account and technical pre-sales teams, and a range of senior stakeholders both within Applied Intelligence, the wider BAE Group and across Government and Industry. The role reports directly to the Marketing Operations and Campaigns Director, with a dotted reporting line into the four account team leads.

As the primary marketing interface into the Government Business Unit, the role will require effective collaboration with business unit stakeholders to understand priority propositions, target accounts and order intake targets. Identifying and coordinating synergies with marketing activities in the other business divisions is also key to driving benefit.

Working closely with the wider comms and marketing specialist teams, responsibilities will include campaign strategy and planning, campaign delivery, stakeholder engagement and reporting. Tactics will include delivery of a range of events (Tier 1 and smaller targeted account/topic focussed activities), messaging, thought leadership, asset development, digital and social media activation, and sales enablement.

This is a high profile role with significant responsibility to drive and deliver engaging and innovative integrated campaigns, co-ordinated across communications and marketing, capability and sales. This position is well suited to a self-starter who enjoys a fast paced and dynamic environment, and can work autonomously when required. The role will require travel both within and outside UK.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with Sales, Pre-sales and the Offerings team to articulate the marketing strategy and subsequent integrated comms & marketing plan, together with stakeholder engagement strategies. This will require building a good understanding of target audience, company capability and business drivers to ensure high impact, engaging comms and marketing activity;

  • Develop campaign messaging and tactics to meet business unit goals, drawing on other comms and marketing activity across AI;
  • Deliver events for the Government business - with a focus on the UK, ME and SE Asia

  • Working with the comms and marketing specialist teams (brand, digital, systems, events, internal/external comms, field marketing), product teams, sales teams, and key stakeholders across the business to ensure the campaigns are executed effectively. Key activities are likely to include ownership and delivery of a range of events, together with management of the creation of marketing materials and sales tools as required.
  • Help drive engagement with key Government stakeholders

  • Drive case studies and customer references from the business, providing valuable marketing assets for our propositions and Customer focus;
  • Arranging spokesperson opportunities at key events;

  • Working closely with the Communications team to support media coverage and manage reputation;

  • Metrics and reporting - ensuring tracking of appropriate KPIs and ROI, reporting on success of campaigns to a range of stakeholders, adapting the approach as necessary.

This is a new role in the Business and as such offers the opportunity for the individual to help shape the responsibilities and approach.

What we're looking for


  • Proven experience in defining and driving integrated campaigns in Government markets, including experience in Government relations.
  • Experience of managing the delivery of a range of comms and marketing tactics including collateral and message creation, thought leadership, PR & media, webinars, email, social media
  • Experience in owning and delivering a range of events
  • Relevant market awareness
  • Good understanding of marketing trends and innovative approaches
  • Knowledge of the technical fields which Applied Intelligence operates within: professional services and consulting, cyber security, financial crime, data, digital.


  • Ambitious, enthusiastic and motivated self-starter who can work to and ensure others in the business meet tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise well, including helping coordinate activity across a number of functional teams;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Can do attitude and willingness to step in and support others in line with changing business demands;
  • Willingness to travel
  • Aptitude for remaining calm, even when handling a large number of competing demands on time and energy;
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven capability in campaign development, events management and marketing CRM (ideally Marketo and
  • Confident user of Excel, Word, and PPT.
