This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing business as a Systems Engineer who specialises in System Implementation and Support. We are looking for an enthusiastic and intelligent engineer to join our team to support our growing number of diverse projects. We deliver next generation cyber security and intelligence solutions for government and law enforcement agencies.
 
This role will involve supporting both UK and international projects and requires a UK national who holds a current DV clearance.
 
The successful candidate will gain experience of implementation and commissioning of customer solutions; delivering customer demonstrations and user training; providing system support and maintenance; and implementing system upgrades.
 
This is a unique opportunity that will give you a chance to work with our product engineering teams and end customers; in the UK and abroad. Our work is based primarily in the UK, with the opportunity to travel abroad to work with customers in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and commissioning our solutions for customers, responsible for the full technology stack - including software, hardware, network and virtualisation as required;
  • Technical support and maintenance of customer production systems;
  • Travelling to customer site (in the UK and abroad) for system health checks, training, requirements gathering, service restoration and system upgrades;
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for our solutions, providing guidance to internal and external customers;
  • Delivering Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects and demonstrations to customers;
  • Working within an ITIL-aligned organisation;
  • Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota, once fully experienced;
  • Identify improvements to our product and solutions.
 
Mandatory Skills and Experience Required
  • A passion for problem solving across end-to-end systems;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Well organised with a keen eye for detail and strong research skills;
  • Good working knowledge of Windows and Linux OS;
  • Understanding of application technologies, particularly scripting, deployment and monitoring technologies for web applications;
  • A desire to obtain advanced scripting skills  (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, etc);
  • UK DV Security Clearance;
  • Flexibility in travel (UK and abroad).
 
Desirable Skills and Experience (or willingness to grow this expertise)
  • Advanced scripting skills (e.g. Bash, PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, Python);
  • Automation experience (e.g. DevOps, DevSecOps or Site Reliability Engineering);
  • Designing, implementing, supporting and maintaining end-to-end solutions, across the full technology stack;
  • Experience of the following technologies:
    • Windows and Linux environments;
    • Cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Azure);
    • Enterprise domain services and protocols, such as Active Directory (or other identity management services), LDAP, Anti-Virus, DHCP;
    • Virtualisation solutions (e.g. VMWare, Citrix);
    • Containerisation technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Marathon, Mesos);
    • Physical infrastructure (e.g. Servers, Storage, Network devices);
    • Firewalls, Load Balancers and IPS (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, F5, Snort);
    • Big Data technologies (e.g. Cloudera, HDFS, Elasticsearch);
    • Monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios, Zabbix, Solarwinds, Logstash/Kabana);
    • Data pipeline and mediation technologies (e.g. Camel, Kafka and/or NiFi);
    • Application server technologies (e.g. Tomcat, Wildfly, Weblogic);
  • Data analysis and data analytics techniques;
  • Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies;
  • Requirements management and business analysis;
  • Technical pre-sales;
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
