Summary
The Aircraft Bids Mechanical Systems Engineer role is responsible for delivering Engineering Bid activity within Airborne ISR based at Broughton.
Accountable to the Airborne ISR Head of Mechanical Engineering. Primary responsibilities include; bid planning, designing the Mechanical solution concepts and proposal development in order to ensure the timely submission of a winning bid.
The position requires knowledge and experience of design lifecycle management in aircraft programmes, bid management practices and processes, mechanical systems design and design for manufacturing.
Will be expected to act as the design solution subject matter expert to support the capture lead during bids.

Main Duties:
The Aircraft Bids Mechanical Systems Engineer will be part of an expanding Airborne ISR design team and Airborne ISR Bid Team. This role is ideally suited to an experienced mechanical design engineer with proven experience in military and/or civil aircraft. The role offers an exciting challenge in supporting Airborne ISR bids with responsibilities for:

Requirements interpretation.
Requirement capture.
Generation of Statement of Work.
Bid proposals / White Papers.
Mechanical design concepts.
Systems integration solutions.
Support to supply chain estimating.
Ensuring that regulatory compliance requirements can be met.
Identification and evaluation of risks.
Presentation of data and reports to both team and customer.
Supporting gates, reviews, presentations and general business processes.
Involves travel (national and international) and extended working.
Sound communication skills with sub-contractors, customers and team.
Communication with senior customer representatives.
Ensuring that bid activities are conducted in accordance with Raytheon UK site procedures that reflects best practice, and are in accordance with Raytheon UK and regulatory authority's procedures.

Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
Experience in aircraft and aircraft systems structural design & engineering.
Experience of requirements capture & management and risk management.
Experience of aerospace design regulations.

Eligible for or Holder of current SC security clearance (Raytheon UK will sponsor as required)

Desirable:
Track record of successfully delivering aircraft and/or mechanical systems bid work.
A degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Systems Engineering or equivalent related experience.
Experience in a design support role on military aircraft mechanical systems.
