Job description:

This Senior Finance Manager role, reporting to the Financial Controller is a projects role, based in the corporate finance team, with responsibility for parachuting into areas in need of improvement or attention. As a result this role manages and influences the cost structure, returns and risk profile of the company. Through partnering with professionals from across the business, this role is also a great opportunity to successfully influence the future shape of RTN UK.

The initial projects could include:

•Roll out the new Investment Committee - Embed best practice prioritisation methodologies across all investment streams (R&D, bids, marketing, capital, overhead) and financial management of projects post approval
•Improve and embed the new business case generation and approval process
•Finance support for the Process Excellence Programme (business process reengineering)
•Finance support for the roll out of the Enterprise Resource Management Tool (initial focus on workload forecasting)
•Train, upskill and support a team of embedded functional analysts to improve functional forecasts and knowledge of the business
•Working with IT on the ERP upgrade white paper
•This role will also assist in the delivery of the RTN UK Transformation Programme (People, Process and Systems Transformation)
•Supporting M&A activity

Required skills:

•A finance professional with broad experience across finance disciplines
•Previous experience of dealing one-to-one with both senior and external stakeholders. Experience of presenting to senior audiences
•Strong financial analytical skills and attention to detail
•In depth knowledge of investment prioritisation methodologies
•Working in a programme environment / knowledge of accounting for long term contracts, including Estimate at Completion and ideally in an Earned Value Management (EVM) environment, although EVM is not essential.
•Strong communicator and networker with a thirst for understanding the business model, providing meaningful and actionable insight, critical thinking and an ability to think differently about existing problems
•Excellent systems skills - SAP, COGNOS Enterprise Planning and Business Intelligence, Excel & Powerpoint
•Ability to work on issues/problems with multiple stakeholders and sources of information, both internal and external
•Ability to work under time pressure
•Creative and entrepreneurial, providing innovative solutions that drive value to the business
•Excellent presentational skills. Comfortable with data and detail, but having the ability to extract high level messages to support business decisions
•Ability to "think on your feet", work autonomously but and as part of a wider project team
•"Can-do" attitude

Desired skills:

•Defence Industry or similar large complex contracting environment experience would be strong advantage.
•Negotiation experience and ability to influence - both internal and external
•Detailed understanding of complex rates calculations/absorption costing
•Bid proposal response experience in military or commercial space, demonstrating innovation and creativity to support the bidding proposal

Required Education:

•Likely to have relevant degree
•CIMA, ACCA or ACA fully qualified, with proven post qualification experience
