BACKGROUND

Incident Management and data loss prevention (DLP) are significant areas of importance within organisations today. High profile cases of data privacy breaches and information security losses seen over recent months in the press often lead to significant financial, regulatory and reputational impacts. The firm has a Data Loss Prevention and Investigation (DLPI) programme that focuses on the incident management, development and implementation of processes and systems to prevent and manage the loss of data.

JOB PURPOSE

The role holder will have a key role in the firm's Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program and management of security incident. This will be through assisting in the day to day monitoring, investigating and reporting of analysis from the output of the internal DLP tool as well as being involved in the investigative analysis of the Information Assurance security incidents. The role holder will use information gathered from DLP investigations and security incidents to create intelligence reports that can drive continual awareness further preventative controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- To monitor and review daily DLP events to determine whether further investigations are required.
- To develop intelligence reports obtained from data within the DLP tool for the creation of trend and behavioural analysis. This is to improve the effectiveness of the monitoring and controls within the tool, to create new policies and preventative measures in order to further reduce data loss events.
- To be involved in rolling out awareness information and guidance to functions across the firm.
- Managing the team's mailbox for request from functions across the firm for specific preventative control policies.
- To assist with the development of intelligence and performance monitoring utilising information obtained from the security incident case management tool.
- To assist team members with investigations into potential data breaches where personal, confidential or inside information is lost, damaged or misused.
- Assist with the management of the content and to help with development and functionality of the Incident Management Portal.

- Build on and preserve the firm's reputation with client engagement teams, with regard to data loss prevention and incident management.

KNOWLEGDE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Analytical skills
• Strong analytical / problem solving skills.
- Proven ability to identify potential trend analysis and to articulate findings appropriate to the specific audience.
- To be able to make clear decisions and recommendations based on data analysis and intelligence.
- Proven experience and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- An understanding of reporting tools such as Power BI or Qlikview.

Technical knowledge
• An interest in building a career within Incident Response and intelligence analysis areas that include data loss, cyber security or incident management.
- An interest in information assurance concepts including an understanding of information security standards and privacy requirements (including GDPR).
- Ability to communicate clearly and simply, both verbally and in writing.

Personal qualities
• Demonstrate initiative and commitment for results and the ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects.
- The ability to work unsupervised and effectively under pressure.
