With the expansion of AISR business to include the Long Term Support (LTS) contract and the future development of the Shadow platform, engineering are in the process of significant expansion (e.g. double). This expansion will mean airworthiness interface issues and the volume of modification design work should be expected to commensurately increase.
Moreover adoption of EMAR21 under the DAOS approval has required additional procedures and authorisations across RSL sites.
To cope with expected airworthiness issues and ensure they are dealt with in a timely fashion an additional contract position is proposed to allow permanent airworthiness staff to focus on more strategic design and technical issues.

Summary of Role:
The Airworthiness Officer works within Raytheon U.K.'s Office of Airworthiness, based in Broughton, North Wales, reports to the Head of Airworthiness, and will support the existing airworthiness officers. The Office of Airworthiness main function is to act as an interface between Raytheon U.K. and the regulating authority/agency and coordinate the demonstration of compliance to ensure the airworthiness of aircraft changes and repairs under a both civil and military design approvals.
Main Duties:
For aircraft design changes and repairs:

Establish and maintain Certification Compliance plans.
Advise on airworthiness and environmental protection requirements.
Support classification (Major/Minor)
Management of certification programmes including the tracking of compliance documents
Support preparation of Modification/Repair data sheets
Prepare data packs for and coordinate the Compliance Verification Engineers.
Coordinate the preparation of associated Service Bulletins.


Update of design and airworthiness procedures.
Provide regular reports to Head of Airworthiness.
Manage the preparation of Flight Test Permits.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

The candidate will be mentally robust and have the strength of character to take the action that his/her mind persuades them is correct.
Good verbal and written communication.
Graduate calibre & intellect ideally with a degree.
Aerospace design background, ideally in an airworthiness-regulatory related environment.
Membership of a Professional body is desirable.
