Role summary

The DevOps IT Manager role is a key member of the extended IT management team who will be responsible for:
•Managing the effective delivery and operations of all work within the Back Office area for applications such as SAP, Successfactors, BPC, Cognos, Sharepoint, Microsoft.NET (Bespoke), Planview and Supportworks.
•Driving the pace of the DevOps team's output whilst focusing on quality and cost reduction, aligning the teams efforts to deliver IT services for Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, Hire to Retire and Plan to Deliver.
•Continuous improvements on the Back Office Engineering team to provide world class DevOps Service.

What you'll be doing

•Implement, run and improve an appropriate adaptation of Agile Practice (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) and other delivery methodology to ensure safe and effective delivery of Internal Projects, Change and Unplanned Work.
•Facilitate effective estimation, planning and scheduling of change across the Back Office Products
•Stimulate multi-functional and cross-functional working, a highly collaborative environment and full visibility of all the work.
•Be accountable and create accountability within the team to deliver system changes as Planned and Committed.
•Responsible for driving the performance and outcomes by the DevOps Leads.
•Point of escalation for DevOps activity with the responsibility of removing blockers that may prevent timely delivery of system changes.
•Develop proposals on tactical and strategic improvements plans on People, Process, Tool
•Conduct Lean analysis such as Value Stream Mapping to optimise constraints and remove impediments. The goal is to improve the flow of work and deliver more value.
•Measure, analyse and improve the performance of the team and look at metrics like Sprint Velocity, Technical Debt, Unplanned work, Team Happiness, etc. Continuous improvement is key
•Inspire a Learning Environment - will read, research and learn whilst teaching and coaching others.
•Provide reports to the Head of Back Office Application on the performance of DevOps activities.

What we're looking for

•Proven experience of managing a multi-disciplined engineering team; having in-depth knowledge of complex systems and integrated processes such as SAP, Successfactors, BPC, Cognos, Microsoft (Sharepoint, Microsoft.NET (Bespoke)), Planview and Supportworks.
•Successfully applied knowledge of ITIL, DevOps, Prince2, Agile methodologies to mature a large engineering team.
•A track record of successful delivery of significant business changes through small, medium and large change roadmap; can demonstrate on previous roles acting as Delivery Manager of 5+ end to end change initiatives that encompasses multiple systems.
•Able to operate in a multi-faceted business environment where operational excellence and timely decision-making determines success.
•Relevant technology sector experience in a multi-national environment.
•Proven strategic thinker with operational knowledge, adept at understanding and translating details in the context of a broader picture and in focusing him/herself and others on the right priorities to achieve the business goals.
•Responsible for ensuring that the DevOps Leads are responsible for tactical and strategic development, mentorship, training of the Engineering team as appropriate, in order to meet current and future business needs.
•A proven track record of implementing transformation programs and leading people through change successfully.
•A natural ability to lead, influence and motivate people either directly or indirectly.
•Adept at understanding and translating details in the context of a broader picture and in focusing him/herself and others on the right priorities to achieve the business goals.
•Previous experience of working in complex environments and in matrix organisations.
•Adaptable influencing styles to manage a diverse range of stakeholders.
•Excellent negotiation skills and ability to bring diverse stakeholders on board both internally and externally.
•Good communicator and able to deliver messages to audiences at different levels of the organisations.
•Ability to work and lead a team in an ambiguous and dynamic environment.
