About The Team
The Network Architect is part of the Azure team, which supports our 1,000+ developers and their enabling infrastructure. The team supports a global workforce with key locations in Leeds, Poland and Kuala Lumpur to deliver and maintain Azure-hosted environments. We primarily follow an Infrastructure-as-Code deployment model and Agile delivery processes, for both operational management (including site reliability engineering) and new capability delivery.

About The Role

The successful candidate will join the Azure team, which is distributed between the UK and Kuala Lumpur. You will own our Cloud network architecture and work with the Azure Architect and Azure Product Owner to build business cases and plan work in for our Azure team to implement designs. You will be responsible for defining and maintaining architecture artefacts as part of our overall Enterprise Architecture. You will need to be proficient with practical delivery and operational work, as you will support implementation teams and participate as an escalation manager for our on-call teams.

In addition to the core responsibility of architecting our cloud-based network infrastructure, you will also provide design support and technical escalation for our physical/on-premise network infrastructure.

Reports to the Azure Product Owner

What You Will Be Doing

    Definition of our rolling Cloud network target state, in support of the delivery against business objectives Support the Product Owner in the definition of Sprints and User Stories, in order to meet company demands of the platform Define and document our Network architecture (baseline, target, roadmap, standards, reference architectures, etc), supporting a wide range of use cases. Run architectural reviews of the platform at appropriate intervals to take best advantage of vendor technologies Proactively define, optimise, automate, publish and communicate deployment patterns, both as centrally supported instances and internal community versions Take on the technical lead role in ADHOC work, including cloud migrations and holistic design work, where patterns are not appropriate Maintain our risk log Support engineering teams in optimising the platform Escalation point for engineering teams in troubleshooting and incident management Drive the adoption of automation in the platform, using common methods with other supported platforms Work in a community of Infrastructure teams, to deliver services that use, where possible, common code, standards and artefact format and proactively drive collaborate, particularly where there are service dependencies or handoffs Run internal community events to evangelise the service, build trust and understand how we can better support platform users Provide feedback for other team members. Out of hours support on a rota for the infrastructure

Skills and Experience
Advanced level
The successful candidate must have the following advanced level experience:

    Maintaining network architecture artefacts as part of a Product Team structure and an Enterprise Architecture framework Experience of designing, developing, deploying and routine maintenance of cloudbased network virtual appliances using at least two of the following technologies Pal Alto Firewalls Frtinet Firewalls Micrsoft Azure network and security technologies
Experience of designing, developing, deploying and routine maintenance of Azure and AWS native network infrastructure and security controls Experience of designing, developing, deploying and routine maintenance of onpremise network infrastructure, primarily based on Cisco and Palo Alto-based technology Maintaining system availability through highly available cloudbased network infrastructure to strict SLAs Ability to deliver within an Agile organisation, whilst ensuring adherence to committed delivery milestones Experience of working as part of an international team
Intermediate level
The successful candidate should also have intermediate level experience of the following:

    Automation techniques using Terraform, Ansible and Puppet; Administration of AWS / Azure Cisco CSR Physical network infra management

The successful candidate will routinely exhibit the following characteristics:

Ability to acquire new skills quickly and learn on the job.

Any of the following certifications would be beneficial:

    TOGAF certified Palo Alto: Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer Cisco: CCDP, CCNP, CCNP Cloud Fortinet: Network Security Expert Microsoft: Azure Administrator, Security Engineer Amazon Web Services: Solutions Architect Associate, SysOps Administrator, Security Speciality, Advanced Network Speciality ITIL: Foundation
