Role summary

The Global Employee Communications Manager will help drive employee communications planning, implementation and measurement across the Applied Intelligence business, specifically for the Government business unit, which is the most successful part of the business in terms of orders and revenue. The role holder will also support the delivery of the internal communications strategy and activity plan for the Engineering Capability organisation, the largest part of our company in terms of headcount.

They will report functionally to the Head of Global Internal Communications in the Global Communications team and be an integral business partner to the Government BU and Engineering Capability, working closely with the Managing Director of Government Business Unit, and Engineering Leadership Team.

What you'll be doing

  • The successful candidate will be delivering a suite of leader-led communications to an audience of around 1200 multi-disciplined people globally to align them to the Government strategy and ensure high levels of engagement and discretionary effort.
  • The Engineering community numbers are around 2000 people - more than half of the business - and many of them deliver for the Government BU, so this role requires a close alignment of priorities and messaging across these key areas, as well as with the rest of the Internal Communications (IC) team.
  • This role combines both strategic planning and tactical communications delivery, from: advising the Managing Director and Extended Leadership Team of the BU on best practice approaches to internal communications delivery; gathering employee feedback, and; analysing and presenting employee insight data to: the creation of presentation decks; writing up wins and delivery successes for the intranet; scheduling and delivering conference calls with key audiences; and collaborating with other members of the IC team to ensure consistency of messages and timing of communications activities.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will provide advice, counsel and subject matter expertise to the Government and Engineering senior leadership teams, help management to continually tweak their communications for best impact and engagement, and, where appropriate, work with other business units and Capability areas.
  • Additionally, they will deputise for the Head of Global Internal Communications, providing support to the Managing Director of Applied Intelligence and other Leadership Team members as required.

What we're looking for


  • The candidate should have experience of supporting large, complex, global change programmes and delivering creative content to tight timescales. They should also be very proactive, directing and driving the communications agenda.
  • Ability to synthesise complex information quickly and turn into communications tactics.
  • Advanced influencing skills and experience of delivering at pace in a high-pressure environment.
  • Resilience to be able to take on both large, complex tasks and basic communications administration.
  • Strong writing skills, presentation skills and understanding of a variety of communications channels.


    Project/Programme Management experience. Global communications experience.
