SOC Analyst

Reporting to: Security Operations Manager

Monarch IT is currently working with a leading provider of public services. Expanding their West Midlands SOC team, our client is looking for a SOC Security Analyst.  

As a member of the SOC team, you will be responsible for delivering services to Internal and External Customers. You will be responsible for monitoring and review of security incidents and provide incident response support through identification, containment, eradication and recovery. 

This position operates on an alternating shift pattern

7am- 4pm and 1pm- 10pm  

Every other weekend off and 1 in every 12 weeks off (rest week)

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to security events, requests and incidents logged in management systems.
  • Attend risk assessments to determine and record mitigating actions to identified risks.
  • Monitor the security posture of the IT estate and identify anomalous activity and behaviours by the use of SIEM tools
  • Use security tools and develop basic scripts to assist with the ongoing analysis of a security events/incidents
  • Perform network and wireless vulnerability assessments
  • Create service requests with support teams to address weaknesses found and monitor and report on progress.
  • Assist with forensic data capture and analysis under supervision when requested.

Experience:

  • Knowledge using Vulnerability Assessment tools.
  • Knowlege using Security Information and Event Management tools
  • Knowledge of network protocols and technologies
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles
  • Strong skills in Windows, Unix/Linux or Networking
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a SOC environment
