The Test Engineer role will involve innovation and development of new cutting edge products, mentoring and coaching other engineers (depending on grade) and supporting technical bid and project activities. Our systems support Governments and Customers around the world in helping them defend against cyber threats and so they must be able to rely on the quality of our products.

The role interfaces both with our wider development teams, and clients as required.

Essential skills and knowledge:

Hands on design and writing automation experience


Knowledge of testing frameworks

Experience of Linux operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server/CentOS)

Ability to investigate problems in software as a result of testing

Identify gaps and opportunities to grow Test Automation capability to ensure coverage efficiency

Requirement to test to defect traceability maintenance

Experience in configuring test environments

Good organisational and time management skills

Accuracy and attention to detail

Experience of creating documentation

Highly Desirable

Agile experience / Working in an Agile Team

Exposure of Java

Some level of Unit testing exposure

Jira / Confluence experience (or other ALM type solutions)

Exposure to rest-interface, API testing

ISTQB (foundation, intermediate, advanced) or equivalent commercial experience

Previous exposure to testing physical devices

Exposure to DevOps approaches and associated tools e.g. Bamboo, BitBucket, Stash & Jenkins
