Your new company
A leading Ministerial Government Department is looking to further strengthen their commitment to Cyber Security by appointing a Cyber Security Engineer, on a contract basis.

Your new role
As the Cyber Security Engineer, you will utilise your strong technical cyber security skills, combined with the organisation's business knowledge to uplift and maintain mature security capabilities, required to identify and respond to cyber threats.

You will be responsible for developing solutions to meet any capability gaps using commercial, open source or self-developed technology. They key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Configuring, deploying and maintaining security software and related IT infrastructure
  • Monitoring security software and related IT infrastructure for security incidents
  • Identifying security threats or vulnerabilities and working to implement proactive fixes and improve processes
  • Using technical skills to resolve and investigate security incidents
  • Taking part in IT security projects, including trialling or testing new systems


What you'll need to succeed
As this this a technical Cyber Security role, you will be highly experience cyber security operations and/or cyber security systems. Essential skills and experience include:

  • A strong understanding of Microsoft security solutions
  • A working knowledge of firewalls and other security products
  • Experience using and implementing SIEM products
  • A demonstrated background in administering security monitoring systems (Splunk)
  • Experience in administering Windows and Linux systems in large enterprise environments
  • An understanding of security logging and monitoring requirements
  • Experience with open stack software such as Kafka, ELK, SIGMA etc
