We are seeking an experienced compliance professional to be our Quality Manager and play a leading role in ensuring that current and planned new cutting-edge scientific capabilities at Genomics plc are compliant with a range of legal and regulatory requirements. You will be required to maintain and improve our existing ISO 27001-certified information security management system, and implement and maintain new accredited quality management systems (e.g. via ISO 13485) as we undertake a significant expansion of our data-processing capabilities. 

You will implement (where necessary) and maintain appropriate documentation and records for Genomics plc’s various management systems. You will need to create and communicate concise, helpful and accurate technical guidance and advice to scientific, technical, and business colleagues. You will also plan and undertake internal audits, participate in the delivery of engaging compliance-related training to your colleagues, and assist with preparation for external audits. 

You will be required to identify and scrutinise emerging compliance risks and trends, and work closely with the Head of Data, Compliance & Legal to assist with the planning of the strategic direction of compliance work in Genomics plc. Ensuring that our work and related systems meet, and where possible exceed, ‘Privacy by Design/Default’ expectations will be of particular importance.

Essential requirements: 

  • Experience of working in a compliance/regulatory role;
  • Successful implementation and maintenance of accredited information security management systems and quality management systems;
  • A good working knowledge of the regulations and best practices relevant to information security practices and the use of medical devices; 
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and communicate helpful summaries of such records to colleagues; 
  • Able to influence your colleagues by delivering credible and accurate advice on compliance matters; and
  • Capable of working collaboratively with colleagues from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Experience of working in a compliance/regulatory role in a technology-driven company;
  • General understanding of large scale data analysis approaches and software used in the life sciences sector; 
  • Detailed knowledge of ISO 27001 and ISO 13485; 
  • Awareness of laws relating to personal data (particularly health data) and medical devices; 
  • Recognised compliance qualifications (e.g. internal auditor); and 
  • Capable of contributing to the strategic planning of compliance activities in Genomics plc.
