A job opportunity has arisen for a Linux Systems Administrator (SAS) to join one of the largest financial services organisations in South Wales on a permanent basis. This position is based at a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation, who have won multiple awards.

The Linux Systems Administrator (SAS) will be responsible for the following:

  • Troubleshooting of various Data Applications including SAS and Teradata
  • Responsibility for user administration
  • Maintenance of application (including metadata and host) security and authorisation
  • Liaison with IT Support on application issues
  • Communication with SAS user base on platform issues
  • Communication with SAS and Teradata user base on technologies and developments
  • Maintenance of application logging and audit
  • Monitoring of Data system-wide and application performance
  • Recommendations for client - side and server - side application patches
  • Responsibility for maintenance and organisation of SAS metadata
  • Responsibility for release control and promotion of content between environments
  • Responsibility for application backup and recovery
  • Maintenance and control of Data servers, spawners and services


The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven experience of providing SAS Administration on Linux platform
  • Knowledge of integrating databases with SAS
  • SAS 9.3/9.4 qualifications and programming experience desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of Linux systems and Cloud Technologies.
  • Experience of working with IT technologies
  • System documentation experience
  • Familiarity with the basic concepts of computing languages
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of 3rd party databases e.g Teradata, MySQL, DB2
