I am working with a leading NHS trust based in Central London who are looking for an Assistant Director of ICT Technology & Cyber Security paying up to £625 per day (Inside IR35) for an initial 3 month contract with a possibility for extension

Your new role
This role is responsible for and accountable for the Trusts cyber security and IT enterprise architecture including wired and wireless networks, telephony, mobile and video communication, active directory infrastructure, data centres, cloud technologies and application delivery (e.g. citrix). It will setup, lead and contribute to the security operations function, within Information Security, providing security operations support for the trust and its stakeholders. The role will cover:
  • Accountability for the technical architecture and support of networks, including external connectivity, connectivity to cloud, wired and wireless networks and cabling)
  • Accountability for the development and maintenance of enterprise wide IT security programmes and IT security operations capability across the estate, overseeing activities, providing direction and support to a team of networking & security analysts on a day-to-day basis.
  • Accountability for the operational Technical Architecture and Support of:
    • Cloud Tenancies
    • Application Delivery including Citrix
    • Single Sign On Solutions
    • On premise Servers, Active Directory, including GPO, DNS and User Security
    • Data Centres
    • Accountable for the delivery of the Cyber Security Strategy.
    • Engagement with the Trust Board, Trust Executive, Senior Managers and the wider trust business, advising and reporting on complex network and cyber security threats and issues.
    • Planning and coordinating the design, installation and connectivity of the whole Data Centre, Server, IT network & telephony infrastructure across the trusts estate and the wider NHS connectivity.
    • Ensure the stable operation of the organisations enterprise technology assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, securing and optimizing all new and existing Server & network hardware, software, application delivery and communication links.
    • Develop and embed within the trusts strategic technology partnerships with both the Network Support Partner and the Network Manufacturer/s.
    • Accountability for all technology equipment, hardware, and software upgrades
    • Accountability for optimal operation of technology hardware and equipment, including servers, routers, switches, security equipment, etc.
    • Working with the other Assistant Directors of ICT to ensure that all ICT Services are delivered efficiently across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
  • Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful SLA Management.
  • Significant time in successful leadership of an infrastructure team.
  • Holds relevant professional CISSP certification, or is working towards it, or has experience of CISSP.
  • Experience of ISO standards.
  • Experience of procuring, maintaining and installing ICT technology equipment.
  • Experience of managing multi-vendor technology platforms and relationships with suppliers.
  • Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including Active Directory, Group Policies, SIP, ISDN, Firewalls, Proxy Services, Cloud Services, Vulnerability Scanning, Core Switching/Routing, SSL/IPsec, SAN, Virtualisation, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Telephony and Collaboration platforms.
  • Clearly evidenced professional information security expertise and a structured approach to practice gained through substantial experience of working at a management level within a successful function (typically gained through 5 or more years' experience)
  • Proven experience of successfully managing and implementing Information Security and risk within a large enterprise organisation, preferably within the NHS.
  • Good functional knowledge of end-to-end Information Security policies, procedures, controls and tool-sets
  • Ability to translate technical and Information Security specialist topics into business language and vice versa
  • Experience in interpreting the NHS regulations in relation to IT Networks (including data privacy practices and national policies)
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting network hardware such as, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, network interface cards, and so on.
  • Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
  • Experience installing network cabling and telephony systems.
