Web Operations Engineer - Security/Azure

What you'll need to succeed

My client is looking for a Web Operations Engineer with experience across Security and Azure to join a team created to support the organisation's cloud strategy.

The position is currently based remotely, due to Covid-19. Once Covid has settled the requirement will be needed around the Reading area.

Primary Purpose

• The purpose of the Web Operations Engineer role is to lead the delivery and support of cloud infrastructure to enable the delivery of customer IT projects and services.

General skills/experience

• Extensive experience of configuring and operational management of cloud hosted services, specifically MSFT Azure.
• Experience of scripting of automated deployment and configuration management, using tools such as Octopus and Azure Devops
• Experience of working very closely with developers and designers using agile methods and continuous delivery practices
• Experience of Continuous Integrations tools such as Jenkins.
• Understanding of version control systems, specifically Git.
• Administering application servers, database servers and web servers (Apache Tomcat, Nginx, Passenger, NodeJS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Apache HTTP server, etc).
• Experience of designing infrastructure and managing operations based on the GDS Standard
• Experience of debugging complex multi-server services

Technical operating skill set

1. Operating System Skills

• Windows (mostly 2012/2016) SysAdmin skills

2. Skills in Automation & scripting technologies including:

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates
• PowerShell
• Octopus Deploy

3. Configuration of Cloud IaaS and PaaS services, their administration and operation

• Azure Portal, CLI and PowerShell
• Azure Storage and Networking
• Azure PaaS solutions, including Azure SQL, Logic Apps, App Services (Function Apps, Web Apps), Redis, CosmosDB
• Azure monitoring and diagnostic functions.

4. Experience of configuring and operating developer tooling

• MS Virtual Studio
• MS Azure DevOps
• SonarQube
• Artifactory

Specific SecOps requirements

• Good working knowledge of network security best practices incl
• Provide vulnerability assessments of assets, deliver remediation recommendations, and provide knowledgeable assistance in resolving identified vulnerabilities.
• Lead security incidents including providing post-mortem analysis, identifying root cause.
• Provide a leading role in the annual Security audits
• Experience of Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
• Practical experience of Information Security frameworks and knowledge of Data Security & Privacy, Network Security, Access Control, Security Incident Management.
• Experience working in complex enterprise/cloud environments
• Experienced in architecture design, security patterns and configurations
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, security, automation and orchestration
• Implementing and testing security policies across cloud
