Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for leading the Business Analysis and technical Product Ownership across key and new initiatives in the Risk Technology space, within the Product Engineering organization.
This is a highly collaborative role which reports directly to the Director of Capability Management for Risk and News. The role involves both driving the detailed business analysis work on a day to day basis for part of the Risk portfolio, and leading and guiding a virtual BA team. This role requires a high degree of collaboration across Risk and specifically with Proposition, Product, Development, Content and Quality Engineering.

The role:

  • Take high level epics and deliverables and work with product management teams to turn them into well-defined requirements and use cases, to an appropriate granularity across all projects
  • Working with architecture, map these requirements and use cases across a collection of services or define new services needed to meet the requirements. Identify dependencies we have on other technology teams.
  • Carry out gap analysis with product management to help determine product portfolio strategies - for example, identifying what is needed in strategic products ahead of obsolescence plans
  • Provide business analysis leadership throughout the planning, development and testing processes
  • Develop a deep undertaking of the product set and business processes in this Risk area, and help drive the definition of as-is and to-be states
  • Able to understand systems and products that our systems interact with - investigate their interfaces and use cases to ensure we provide the right services for their applications and customers
  • Facilitate, understand, and contribute to technical discussions. Work with architecture to enhance our information model to meet new customer needs, and ensure NFRs are defined
  • Refine epics and requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria to feed into our scrum teams for delivery and working with product and/or UX teams to ensure the product vision is well understood ahead of sprints
  • Work with external partners and service providers for the delivery and ongoing support of platform components provided by third parties
  • Champion an ever-improving agile delivery method across technical and product groups
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with a variety of stakeholders on the direction of projects and status of the deliveries
  • Lead a small group of remote Business Analysts to support the area, including review of work and performance evaluation. Responsible for the quality of your and your team's work, ensuring delivery within agreed procedures and timeframes
  • Lead recruitment as required
  • Promote the use of standard tools and best practices within the team.

Required skills/experience:

  • 7 + years experience in business analysis and experience with agile product owner roles
  • Extensive experience in requirements elicitation, analysis and specification
  • Extensive experience working on projects from inception to implementation - understanding how formally and informally a business analyst can support all groups and processes in project delivery
  • Sound understanding of technology platforms and Agile delivery methodologies
  • Proven ability to work with globally distributed teams in direct-reporting and matrix environments, and experience in line management
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with senior management, business and technology stakeholders, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner, given the global nature of the role and varying time zones
  • Experience with collaboration platforms such as JIRA/Confluence and User Story refinement techniques such as story boarding/mapping
  • MS Office
  • Willing to learn - an aptitude and interest in technical concepts essential
  • Drive, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
  • Personal accountability and responsibility are absolutely required; a wide degree of creativity, collaboration, and an attitude of teamwork and helpfulness are expected

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in mixed disciplines across business analysis, product ownership system analysis, product management or project management
  • Awareness of principles of usability and user experience
  • Business Analysis training certification
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • A background in Finance/Risk
  • A background in Know Your Customer style products is an advantage
