Lead Java Engineer

The Refinitiv Trading Technology team is seeking a highly technical, hands-on back-end Java Developer. Our group is focused on maintaining our existing order and message routing network across a global community of institutions and brokers, while re-platforming the entire system to new a new technology stack. We are looking for a self-motivated and driven technologist, able to work both independently and in collaboration with other technologists at all levels.
Responsibilities:

• Work with existing senior members in defining and implementing the next stage of the architecture
• Gain an overall understanding of the current suite of Java FIX applications. Work with other team members to improve the service experience for customers including the availability and resiliency of the system. Quickly analyze production problems and provide troubleshooting and support
• Develop complete regression and unit test cases to make sure components are tested rigorously in an automated fashion
• Collaborate with the QA teams to define and implement rigorous performance, stability and scalability testing
• Collaborate with support and operations teams to ensure customers receive world class service and the platform operates smoothly without routine manual intervention

Essential Skills:

• BS/MS in computer science, engineering or other related degree, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience with Java 8, and associated frameworks (Jackson, JUnit, Mockito)
• 8+ years of strong development experience.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, Postgres, etc.) and non-SQL databases (Elasticsearch, Redis, etc.)
• Experience building RESTful APIs and RESTful architectures.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology and and Test driven development
• Build/process management : GIT, Gradle, Bamboo, Artifactory
• Operating systems: Linux

Desired Skills:

• Experience working with high volume, high throughput, and low latency trading systems or similar type of low latency platforms.
• Experience with messaging middleware (Solace, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Tibco, etc.)
• Experience in deploying and running in a cloud environment (AWS, etc.)

Responsibilities:
You will have deep technical skills, be able to quickly grasp and contribute to existing codebases and express design concepts. Your k ey responsibilities will be the implementation and unit testing of the Transactions Admin core systems. You will need to:

• Contribute to an Agile planning process
• Regularly interacting directly with product partners
• Working closely with senior technical spe cialists and architects
• Crafting and document software design specifications

• Giving demos of new functionality
• Upholding meticulous quality standards
• Perform Unit and Integration testing of your code
• Undertake a 3rd line support role
• Working with 3rd parti es to help deliver the roadmap

Required Skills:

• Outstanding Java EE( EJB,MDB ,JMS) and Spring Framework programming skills as well as Glassfish, ASP.NET Web API, C#, JMS, Angular
• Unit Testing using JUnit
• RESTful Web Services
• Continuous Integration (Gradle, Bamboo, Jenkins)

• Proficient with GIT
• Great teammate
• Excellent academic record with a strong degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related field from a recognized institution
• Commercial experience in the field of software engineering

Desired Skills:

• Docker
• Experience of deploying applications into the cloud (AWS or similar)
• Proficient with SQL
• Automated deployment (Puppet)
• Automated testing techniques

• Proficient in Linux/Unix
