Your new company
This Oxford institute is a complex and stimulating organisation, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence in research and teaching. With many departments across the Oxfordshire area and holding a prestige image, our department is seeking a Systems Administrator to join the team of three to provide day to day support on the current systems.

Your new role
You should have the autonomy to support a diverse user base across a multi-site environment, providing technical support and administration to our systems. You will report directly to the Service Desk Team Lead and work closely with the team to help support their current systems and to be a part of the rebuild of the infrastructure system to support several research projects. This will involve working with UNIX and Linux systems they have in place alongside helping with the maintenance of the security, back up and disaster recovery of the services too.

What you'll need to succeed
We'd like to hear from candidates with a background in supporting Linux and Unix Servers and carrying out routine tasks such as sever installations and back-ups. Ideally holding experience in some scripting tools but strong exposure to proving technical guidance to the end user. You should be comfortable in dealing with complex queries and issues and manage them with success, or if needed to escalate to a relevant manager. You should feel confident in dealing with external vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

What you'll get in return
We're offering an exciting opportunity with a respected organisation who are truly innovative in what we do. You'll be offered a salary of £32,000 - £35,000 + benefits such as a generous amount of holiday days paid, travel discounts and a variety of career progression opportunities. You'll be supported with a closely-knit Infrastructure team and cutting-edge systems and technology, housed in beautiful offices in the centre of Oxford.
