The Foreign and Commonwealth Office are seeking a Solution Architect to join their team in London/Milton Keynes. Note that the successful candidate will work remotely for the time being.

Initial contracts will run for 6 months and offer a rate up to £750/day.

IR35 STATUS: Outside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Outside IR35 legislation.

This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Due to COVID-19, our client can only accept candidates who have their letter of clearance dated not more than 12 months, or an email not more than 1 month old from the organisation that holds their clearance. Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be a sole UK national.

Specific Requirements of the Role

  • Responsible for the overall quality of the solution
  • Has expert domain knowledge across ERP, HCM and Payroll in an Oracle Fusion Cloud context and understanding of how modules interact
  • Develop key artefacts that underpin and support the Programme’s key Architecture Principles; these will be in the form of solution designs and standards.
  • To document, share and disseminate knowledge to the programme and wider business members in clearly written and detailed deliverables.
  • Lead / Participate in the Design Authority as a key core contributor to ensure that relevant designs meet with the Programme’s overarching goals and client needs
  • Supports his/her peers and drives for delivering solutions that reduce/manage risk and deliver value for the Programme
  • Provides support to design, build, testing and operations as necessary

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop solution designs in accordance with the key Architecture Principles of the Atlas Programme. Solutions are developed against business requirements and where gaps are identified, the architect will clarify requirements and determine the best outcome-based solution.
  • Develop key artefacts that underpin and support the Programme’s key Architecture Principles; these will be in the form of solution designs and standards.
  • Ensure that key decisions are identified, logged and manages the Key Design Decisions to conclusion.
  • Peer reviews the designs and solutions of his/her peers and provides relevant constructive feedback as necessary, focusing on a solution outcome, avoiding amplification of irrelevant or edge case detail.
  • Supports his/her peers and drives for delivering solutions that reduce/manage risk and deliver value for the Programme.
  • Participate in the Design Authority as a key core member to ensure that relevant designs meet with the Programme’s overarching goals.
  • Identify and manage Atlas risks relevant to the solution or architecture.
  • To share and disseminate knowledge to the programme and wider business members in clearly written and detailed deliverables.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationship with the team and key business stakeholders.
  • Works with third party and partner personnel to develop strong solutions.
  • Champions the Programme’s architectural principles including “adopt not adapt”, secure by design and compliant by design in their work and encourages this amongst their peers.
  • Provides support to design, build, testing and operations as necessary.
  • Responsible for the overall quality of the solution.
  • Champions Atlas product roadmaps.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • Experience of leading on cross functional requirements and solution development. Ability to understand global business needs, convey options and recommend best way forward in a clear, compelling and succinct way in written and verbal communications.
  • Expert knowledge of Oracle Cloud solutions within a multi-supplier, multi-tenancy, multi-release, central government context.
  • Strong influencing skills, with the ability to land key decisions with senior leaders and key business stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of ERP, HCM and Payroll solutions in the Oracle Fusion product set.
  • Strong bias for action and a “solution orientated” attitude.
  • Able to work closely across a diverse multi-workstream programme team to expeditiously deliver results.
  • Good attention to detail and an ability to analyse and use data in decision making.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Experience identifying, diagnosing and resolving issues independently; taking initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances.
  • Anticipates need to re-prioritize; can shift gears and comfortably makes decisions based on new information

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • TOGAF qualified or equivalent is an advantage

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas are cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
