Senior Security Engineer (SPLUNK)

Would you like to play a key role monitoring for an enterprise network and supporting infrastructure within BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Security Engineer (SPLUNK) at our site in Preston (preferable) or other UK-wide locations considered.

As a Senior Security Engineer (SPLUNK), you will be participating in the creation of security solutions to provide enterprise security services, and maintain, develop and communicate their associated roadmaps and standards through the full lifecycle of the service.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the security architecture vision that is aligned with the overall business strategy at both a Global and Home Market level.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Security Engineer (SPLUNK) will involve:

Managing documentation of the dashboard design, including metric details and operational runbooks

Collaborating with Splunk Operations and Service Owner teams throughout the project lifecycle

Leading the team of engineers & analysts

Implementing dashboards into test and production environments

Problem solving and resolving issues with 3rd parties

Analysing, architecting, testing and documenting deployment strategy of Splunk infrastructure

Creating programmatic documentation, standard operating procedures and granular process checklists

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Hands-on expertise within Splunk, including certification
  • Experience in search, deployment and development, such as data normalisation (CIM)
  • Experience of building a series of interconnected dashboards/an entire app
  • Familiar with all Microsoft Desktop and Server OS
  • Knowledge of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools
  • Familiar with transactions and other complex search patterns/results
  • Ability to report on acceleration, summary indexing, tstats

What we're looking for in you: 

You will be a proactive individual who has the ability to work under your own initiative. You will have a keen eye for detail with strong organisational skills. You will be a confident person working well both independently and collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders.

Location: Preston preferable – other UK-wide locations considered

Salary: £55,000-£70,000+ dependent on skills and experience
