RESPONSIBLE TO: Engineering Team Leader

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week. Hours of work will be 8:30am - 5:15pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am - 1:00pm Friday. The post holder may be required at times to work outside his/her normal working hours for the effective performance of the duties of the post. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions periods of working from home may be facilitated.

JOB PURPOSE
To work with the Design, New Product Introduction (NPI) and Production Teams to ensure a manufacturing solution is delivered which meets and exceeds cost, quality and schedule requirements.

PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the bid process for new programs through process selection, the development of recurring and non-recurring costs and identify tooling requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Design Team on new programs/products to ensure all appropriate deliverables are achieved on time and the product developed satisfies all production requirements.
  • Complete model, drawing and BoM reviews in line with program timeframe requirements.
  • Identify and define technical specifications of tools and fixtures to ensure the product satisfies the specifications and tolerances required.
  • Identify and define technical specifications of plant and equipment and using Lean Manufacturing principles collaborate with the Production Team to define layout.
  • Support the Production Team with the resolution of engineering related issues.
  • Develop and update Manufacturing Support Documents.
  • Identify and implement Lean initiatives.
  • Contribute to the culture of continuous improvement within the department.
  • Any other duties as required to support business needs.

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
    • A degree qualification in a related engineering discipline with one years' composite working experience or three years composite related research experience.
    Or
    • Hold a HND/HNC in a relevant discipline with minimum 2 years' relevant working experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or Composite Engineering role
    Or
    • A relevant apprenticeship with 4 years' working experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or Composite Engineering role

    DESIRABLE CRITERIA
    • A minimum of two years working experience in a Composite Engineering role
    • A minimum of two years working experience in New Product Introduction
    • A minimum of two years working experience in leading projects within an engineering / manufacturing environment.
    • A minimum of two years working experience in the creation and optimization of composite manufacturing related procedures and processes.
