Job Title: Principal Commercial Officer



Business Pillar: Cyber, Space & training

Location: Harlow / Remote



The successful candidate shall have experience in leading the commercial elements of low-med value programmes and be able to work without appreciable direction and exercise some latitude in determining the approach to contract management considering the commercial risks.

The main duties include;
  • Preparation of Contract management strategies and plans at Business Area and Programme level
  • Development of innovative Contract solutions in support of responses to Requests for Proposal, Change Requests and Task Orders
  • Negotiation of standard and non-standard Contract agreements and changes
  • Identifies and manages risk and opportunity, working collaboratively with customers and other project team members
  • Administration of complex due diligence activity
  • Responsible for programme financial performance
  • Responsible for Contract compliance and performance
  • Responsible for delivery and invoicing of goods and services
  • Maintenance of records
  • Functional representative at customer and internal reviews including Gates, MRBs and EACs
  • Produces business cases/ briefing materials for senior management reviews
  • Participates in/leads cross-functional improvement activity
  • Company representative at customer meetings
  • Responsible for maintaining customer relationships
  • Supports relationship management initiatives
  • customer relationship management including working in an ISO 44001 (previously BS 11000) environment

It is desirable that the individual shall have;
  • experience in a commercial or contracts role
  • Worked in collaborative environments
  • negotiated small and medium value contracts
  • dealt with Customers from different global locations and cultures including the UK Ministry of Defence
  • drafted and negotiated multiple different types of agreement
  • worked in teams with flexible working arrangements
  • a good understanding of contract life cycle management
  • experience in dispute resolution
