I am supporting one of our Birmingham based banking clients with their search for an Operational Risk & Assurance Officer to join the team.
The role is to provide support to the Head of Operational Risk and wider Operational Risk Team by providing second line assurance through monitoring and control testing, data protection monitoring reviews, annual & bi-annual ISO Audits.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support with ongoing embedding and continual enhancements of all aspects of the Operational Risk Management Framework
  • Assist with the identification, management and reporting of operational risks including policy, process, and internal control failures.
  • Co-ordinate planning for the completion of audits to ensure alignment with external audits.
  • Conducting fieldwork to include evidential reviews and meeting stakeholders.
  • Assessing the materiality of audit findings to measure the effectiveness of the ISO Management Systems
  • Drafting of audit reports which provide Senior Management with assurance the business is conforming to the requirements of the ISO standards.
  • Overseeing the closure of agreed action plans
  • Provide oversight in respect of other 1 st line controls and testing.
  • Supporting on ad-hoc projects within the operational risk function and across the Group as and when required from an operational risk perspective.
  • In addition to the Operational Risk Management responsibilities, this role includes conducting monitoring reviews on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls in line with UK Data Protection legislation, and the Group's internal Data Protection Policy and supporting standards.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Experience working within an operational risk/ Compliance or Audit function
  • Awareness of ISO 45001 (Health & safety), ISO 27001 (Information Security) & ISO 22301 (Business Continuity) Management Systems.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Well organised and able to prioritise tasks, working to several deadlines at once.
  • Effective communication and people skills, both verbal & written.
  • Ability to create strong business relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels, including senior management.
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
