Your new role

Hays Technology are recruiting for a Network and Security Engineer to join our well established client based in Chippenham on a 7 month FTC.

You will assess technologies, and design and implement IT infrastructure solutions to support the business applications and data processing requirements of the Group. You will also manage all organisational wide IT systems in line with legislation, regulation and best practices, including the adopted frameworks for control and management of IT systems (ITIL, COBIT).

The role will require you to manage and control the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, integrity and optimisation of all IT hardware, software, and communication systems within agreed change control procedures.

You will lead technical projects, upgrades and implementations and work with third parties to design and implement technical solutions to business challenges.

You must provide third line technical support for the Group's business users and systems and respond to major technical outages or security incidents resulting from component failure, threats, or other reasons.

What you'll need to succeed
It is essential that you have a minimum of one industry recognised current technical qualification, such as:
• Cisco CCNA
• Citrix CCA
• VCP Foundation
• VCP DC
• Microsoft MCP

You will have knowledge of IT best practice and legislation concerning the utilisation of information systems and technology and knowledge of risks and information security principles so as to be responsible for safeguarding and taking proactive interventions and policy decisions in order to protect the Group's information assets.

You must have the ability to write high quality technical documentation for others to follow explaining complex technical concepts in plain English using technical diagramming techniques e.g. Visio and other apps as required. It is also essential that you have the ability to work to tight deadlines and organise your assigned workload dynamically based on emerging deadlines and day to day priorities.

You will need to juggle competing demands on your time and exercise solid stakeholder management competencies when the workload is reshuffled.
