We are currently recruiting for a CISCO Network Engineer on a permanent basis for a large organisation based near Guildford. The organisation is made up of a dynamic and vibrant community of staff covering a diverse set of chosen fields, backgrounds and experience.

The purpose of this role is to manage, support and develop the organisations Cisco Network. Working with the Senior IT Team, the Network Engineer will provide input into IT planning and projects, together with responsibility for delivery of a high-quality IT network to users.

Your new role
As a Network Engineer you will play a pivotal role in the IT team, supporting the department in delivering excellent network services and infrastructure facilities. You will work alongside the existing Senior IT Team on the maintenance and development of the organisations network, to support the delivery of a safe, secure, and resilient IT services. Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers to ensure requirements are met and the organisation maintain value for money in the product, support or service that is supplied.

You will ensure that appropriate measures are taken to secure and backup all systems and data; assist to develop and implement any plans, systems and measures necessary to support business continuity, as well as maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the IT marketplace and use this knowledge to support the longer-term strategic vision of the IT department

What you'll need to succeed
You will have previous proven experience within a Cisco networking environment, (both design and installation), wired and wireless connectivity, Skype for Business/ O365, supported virtualised server environments and demonstrate a broad understanding of infrastructure technologies (Networking, Server, Backup and resilience, Email, VDI, Information Security), as well as provide basic Firewall administration support and make appropriate policy changes as required by the business.

The Network Engineer will be responsible for monitoring network performance, availability and integrity and proactively suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability, whilst understanding operational challenges and dependencies as they relate to infrastructure decisions. You will demonstrate a consultative approach to all major activities and projects, including the ability to effectively and accurately document requirements and develop clear execution plans, as well as the ability to operate under pressure, meet tight deadlines and influence decisions.

Knowledge of IT Service Management framework and/or ITIL concepts and practices, automation & cyber security, IPv6 and Cyber Security knowledge/ experience would also be advantageous. Please note if successful for this position all candidates will be required to go through a comprehensive screening process including reference and qualification checks, financial and security clearances
