Your new role
You will be the first point of contact for the Cyber Security Operations Team, assessing user reported issues, carrying out daily monitoring and assessing, reporting and following up on vulnerability findings. You will work closely with all users to provide support and guidance to them. Your remit will cover primarily hands on technical aspects of cyber security related monitoring, vulnerability management, software assessment and incident response.

This role would be ideally suited to an IT professional who is at the early part of their career, and who may want to consider moving into Cyber Security. It is therefore essential that you have worked within a digital services role in some capacity, such as 1st or 2nd line support or IT helpdesk position. This will provide a good base level understanding and allow for progression into Cyber Security Analyst post.

Key responsibilities within this role will include:
- Day-to-day responsibility for ensure vulnerability scans are running well
- Assess and report vulnerability findings appropriately
- Follow up on mitigation activities within other teams.
- Ensure overall exposure to technical vulnerabilities is reduced
- Gather information to ensure key security services are running well,
- Manage user questions and reported incidents quickly and effectively
- Generate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) metrics
- High level understanding of major enterprise components including routers, switches, forward and reverse proxies, load balancers, appliances, servers, workstations.
- Understanding of common terminology, not limited to DNS, DHCP, TLS, SPF, and Encryption
- Understanding of the concepts and requirements of IAAA, including MFA
- Knowledge of principles and requirements security and data protection related legislation e.g. Data Protection Act 2018
