Senior Network Engineer vacancy in large public sector organisation in Derby
Up to £40,966 including 30 days annual leave, hybrid working pattern and generous pension scheme

Hays Technology are working in partnership with a large public sector organisation in Derby to recruit a Senior Network Engineer on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be part of an innovative 3rd line team responsible for the delivery of a modern agile Cisco network infrastructure; you will have operational day to day responsibility of the various technologies and platforms, ensuring their optimum performance, reliability and security (the organisation is Cyber-Essentials Plus certified).

Supporting the delivery of digital transformation and automation to the team and the wider organisation; the Senior Engineer will assist the Infrastructure Team Manager and Lead Engineer(s) in ensuring IT Services are able to deliver services seamlessly and build on existing automation such as Cisco Prime and infrastructure as code.

Working collaboratively the Senior Engineer will work across the department and wider organisation, to address problem management and help deliver a culture of continuous service improvement. Our client's infrastructure is future focused, utilising Cisco Catalyst 9000 series, CISCO ISE, Checkpoint, and Cisco ACI with Nexus switching in our two Data Centres.

In order to apply, you must have the following skills and experience:

• Relevant professional certifications e.g. Cisco CCNA or higher.
• Experience of implementing innovative solutions that are customer and future focused
• Experience of developing and deploying high level infrastructure and solutions
• Strong experience of developing, deploying and maintaining a large-scale Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching environment
• Experience of developing and migrating to infrastructure as code, and automation of services
• Experience of working with enterprise class solutions, e.g. Cisco Prime, Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA / and CMX
• Experience of managing and maintaining firewalls and associated policies
• Experience of managing and enhancing a Cisco based wireless network
• Demonstrated proficiency and technical knowledge of infrastructure technology communications / protocols -TCP/IP and other relevant protocols
• Demonstrated proficiency with relevant programming / scripting and source code management
• Demonstrated proficiency in analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to correlate cross-platform technologies.
• Proficiency in CISCO routing, switching and associated protocols and design e.g. BGP, VRF, VSS
• Knowledge and Understanding of Software Defined Networking e.g. SDA, ACI
• Orchestration / Automation Experience
• Enterprise Level Networking Security Infrastructure e.g. CISCO ISE, ASA, VPN
• Enterprise Level Wireless Experience e.g. CISCO DNA, CMX, Wireless Lan Controllers
• Experience in Firewall design and operations e.g. Checkpoint, NSX
• Knowledge of structured cabling systems, limitations and capabilities
Business Requirements
• Work as part of an on call out of hours rota
• Possess valid driver's license for travel between sites (pool car / van provided).
