They are currently looking for an Experienced Wintel Platform Engineer for an initial 6 month period. Our client is on a mission to deliver leading edge technology to some of its key departments. This is a great opportunity for you to be a part of this.

Your new role


  • Responsible for third line resolution of IT network infrastructure incidents across the service, involving both physical and virtual network switching, routing and firewall equipment.
  • Ensure that all new components and installations meet or exceed the RSO internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the technical architects and other tech teams to support and make recommendations towards service improvements and implement these solutions.
  • Own responsibility for network changes and implement according to agreed business processes.
  • Monitor trends to be able to proactively respond to issues to support the business needs.
  • Develop the creation of documentation, processes, and policies to ensure necessary governance and reporting is in place.
  • Follow the Technology Development Life Cycle in the development of all products, proactively planning upgrades as appropriate.
  • Assisting more junior team members with learning and development as required.

What you'll need to succeed

MUST HAVE SC CLEARANCE FOR THIS ROLE

  • Experience in a similar network engineering role or as a generalist with a high degree of demonstratable networking experience.
  • Experience with virtualized networking principles and platforms (vmware/Hyper-V).
  • Experience with varied routing, firewall, switching and load balancing vendors.
  • Excellent understanding of Networking Concepts, such as Transmission Control Protocol, Internet Protocol, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, IP Addressing, Variable Length Subnet Masks, Remote Access, cabling systems, wiring topologies, and security.
  • Sound knowledge of LAN, WAN, design and implementation concepts.
  • Clear understanding of IKE, IPSEC and standard routing protocols (OSPf/BGP).
  • Demonstration of network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.

Desirable
  • Experience of working with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience of cloud-based infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
