At our Kilkeel Facility, we manufacture aircraft interior seating for a number of worldwide customers. As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including an Engineering Manager in our Seating business located in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland.

ROLE: Engineering Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Engineering Director
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday.
LOCATION: Collins Aerospace

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of engineers in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Develop the team and individuals' skills to support the business goals
  • Manage performance using the Company's tools and systems
  • Manage and allocate resources
  • Identify training needs and implement training plan to ensure team can support the needs of the business
  • Interact with all other functions at the site and support daily operations i.e Walk About Reviews
  • Develop KPI's and the necessary governance system to ensure delivery of Company and department goals
  • Support the development of annual department goals and generate implementation plans to deliver against agreed targets
  • Lead concurrent engineering and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly
  • Support and lead implementation of 5S, process improvement, Lean and Problem Solving within the department
  • Support operations development of Lean manufacturing processes
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the department
  • Leading new development programs, mitigating risks to ensure deliver per requirements
  • Lead technology advances (I4.0, engineering services role)
  • Develop & innovate engineering processes
  • Planning for future requirements within team / department

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • 3rd level qualification in a related Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years working experience in Engineering gained in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a comparable people management role
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong ICT skills
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
  • Lean and problem solving skills
  • Relevant management training
  • Achieved or working towards accreditation by an Engineering body
  • Working experience of New Product Introduction
  • Working experience within the Aerospace industry
