Job Details

Role and Responsibility
  • The Certification Author (CA) is the Technical Creator at our location; Wessex Advance Switching Products (known as WASP), for all documents and proof reading required, to support the design and as such, retains ownership and accountability for the release of each document. This will also include the Statutory, Regulatory and Safety requirements, to allow Boeing or Airbus sign off.
  • Produce written, accurate documentation that conforms to Boeing D6-36640 and Airbus ABD0100 standards.
  • Creation, delivery and revision; where necessary, documentation; for qualification testing ensuring the correct terminology is used and test criteria understood.
  • Ensure that test failures and other document related issues be dealt with promptly which can include customer changes to specification, through a process map to reach approval and being accepted by our document management system.
  • Review all documentation (around 40 individual templates) from other technical authors or third parties; either on or off site.
  • Manage the planned delivery dates and ensure submittal dates are withheld.
  • Direct, coordinate and report project activity as required to all interested parties, to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
  • Participate and direct as appropriate; any recovery plan for projects that may be in danger of missing milestones, or major design and compliance issues. This process then should mitigate any risks and issues through prompt reporting and mitigation.
  • Able to manipulate drawings and data, for documentation creation.
Skill set
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft packages; including Word, Excel, Databases and Adobe Acrobat (essential).
  • Working to strict deadlines and in a highly pressurised environment (essential) - penalties can be incurred for missed timescales.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as you will be liaising with internal and external customers (essential).
  • Ability to multitask and change work prioritise if necessary to meet business needs. (essential).
  • Have previous experience in managing your own time when completing management projects. (essential)
  • Previous exposure to working in an un-supervised manner but also has the ability to work closely as part of a wider team. (essential)
  • Be able to demonstrate your ability for being analytical and having exceptional attention to detail and strive for 'right first time' attitude. (essential)
  • Ability to work in proactive way and track down requirements, to keep the project moving and to the customer's satisfaction. (essential)
  • Comfortable to challenge the status quo if required. (desirable)
  • Previous experience in managing all documents and data control protocols. (desirable)
  • Experienced in working alongside AS9100 standards or equivalent (desirable)
  • Have the ability and preferably previous exposure to (BSI) quality activities and audits. (desirable)
  • A background in Aerospace (or very similar industry) with an understanding of aircraft manufacturer's design and qualification standards. (desirable)
  • Hands on person; capable of running test set ups, on the bench and in conjunction with creating the supporting documentation. (desirable)
Education:
  • Educated to Degree, HNC/HND/ or Apprenticeship background in an Engineering Product Design and Manufacturing environment. (desirable)
  • Minimum of a GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English. (essential)
