Data Engineering Lead- £60,000 - £70,000

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced developer to become part of the IT data community within Aviva. You will join at an exciting time for our data platforms and services, which form a core pillar of the organisational strategy, and are the focal point for many key initiatives over the coming years.

In this role you will lead a data engineering team, developing data solutions within the Life & Group Data Platform, supporting business capability across the Life, Finance and Group functions. You will work with your team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, performant solutions, developed using leading data tools and technologies within a predominantly cloud-based environment.

A bit about the job

You will:

• Lead a team of permanent and GSP resources to build data engineering teams that deliver high quality, innovative and efficient solutions
  
• Work with Delivery Leads to schedule, plan and resource projects and deliveries for your team, and to report progress on deliveries
  
• Guide and support your team on technical decision-making as to how solutions should best be formed, and in managing key blockers and dependencies
  
• Ensure development standards are adhered to, and solutions are safely implemented and handed over to application support teams at the point they go live
  
• Continuously strive to enhance our data engineering capability, seeking automated, performant and scalable solutions
  

A bit about you

If you enjoy the world of IT development, and have experience in building IT technical solutions, or leading technical development teams, then we would love to hear from you. In particular:

• Experience of working within and/or managing a technical development team, delivering through the software development lifecycle
  
• Conceptual understanding of data and associated technologies and Knowledge of working with within a cloud-based environment is preferred
  
• Team player who can motivate a diverse team of permanent, on-shore and off-shore resource, guiding and developing them for the future
  
• Strong communicator, with an ability to work across business and IT teams to agree plans and outcomes
  
• Curious, with an appetite for self-development and to continuously understand emerging technologies, approaches and best practice
  

What you'll get for this role:

• Starting salary between £60,000 - £70,000 depending on skills, experience, and qualifications
