Overview:


We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as a Cyber Degree Apprentice.

As a Cyber Security Analyst Apprentice, during your Degree Apprenticeship you will be responsible for ensuring the technologies within the infrastructure of the company meet the needs of the business and are best in class for that model.

You will ensure that the technologies give flexibility, obtain 3rd party support if needed and merge with the needs of our expanding portfolio.

Support and project managing with a team, implementation and hand over of support to the Security / Technical and Operational Group in written and verbal form.

You'll have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies within the industry.

Main duties of the role:
  • Assisting in researching and evaluating IT systems and procedures for the prevention, detection, containment, and correction of information security breaches.
  • Monitor & report security vulnerabilities and work toward remediation of risks.
  • Monitor, report and maintain endpoint detection and response environment.
  • Monitor, report and develop IT security incident response procedures.
  • Monitor, report and maintain software patching processes.
  • Managing and maintaining security assets via SIEM tool.
  • Develop and lead IT security related projects.
  • Connect with security experts internal and external to the company.
  • Liaise with suppliers, internal and external customers in a professional manner and according to relevant support agreements.
  • To support and maintain good relationships with other colleagues.
  • Work to deadlines and respond in a flexible way to the changing demands of the department and the Business.
  • General admin duties.
  • Other duties as required as it relates to IT security management and risk assessment.

Entry Requirements:
  • 120 UCAS points through A-levels or equivalent
  • In order to attempt the EPA apprentices must have achieved GCSE Maths and English at Grade C - you may still enter the programme but will need to evidence Level 2 Maths and English qualification before starting the gateway and EPA

Non-standard entry requirements:

Applicants who can in other ways demonstrate their ability to benefit from the programme, in particular mature students without formal qualifications, will always be considered and will be invited to contact the Programme Leader to discuss their application. The University welcomes applications from students studying qualifications from different qualification types - for example A level and a BTEC qualification in combination, and if you are made an offer you will be asked to achieve UCAS Tariff points from all of the qualifications you are studying at level 3.

A good GCSE profile is expected including English Language and Mathematics at minimum grade C (or a University recognised equivalent). Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths must achieve this prior to taking the end-point assessment.

If you have studied for a new GCSE for which you have achieved a numerical grade then you will be required to achieve a minimum grade 4.

Informal Interviews:

Informal interviews will be held where:
  • The suitability of a candidate is in doubt and further evidence is sought.
  • The candidate presents an unusual set of qualifications taken or pending, and an appropriate conditional offer needs to be determined.
  • Candidates may need advice on the appropriateness of the programme.

Applicants invited for an informal interview will always be informed of its purpose.

End Point Assessment:

You must be able to evidence level 2 English and Maths before you start your End Point Assessment. You may still be begin the programme without these but must obtain the qualifications in order to begin the EPA.

Salary:

£18,000 - £20,000 per annum. -- (dependent on experience)

Working week:

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm ---- (half hour for lunch).

40hrs a week.

Future prospects:

Our Company still has some of our former Apprentices working with us and you too could be offered a fulltime permanent position in the companies IT Department on successful completion of your apprenticeship and be offered further training and development.

As well as having the potential to work from home at agreed times with regular target-based salary reviews.

QA's apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
